Being forced to open several instances of ST like people have mentioned in this thread, to work around this issue, and get load distributed better in todays CPU, should really not be nessesary
The main issue I see with this approach is that ST4 consumes about 2.1GB per instance, before loading any samples.

So if you wanted to load 4 instances of ST4 on a quad core system, that would use 8.4GB RAM just for the base plugins.
Windows 10 and too many plugins

We would need more specific system information as that's higher than I'm seeing with a casual test, I'm sure the team can assist.

Edit - sorry I missed the post you were replying to. You should not be forced to use multiple instances, though, and multiple output use should still be the norm and quite usable even with the current CPU load / multicore questions, though. Plus, when used as a plugin it is the DAW that handles distribution across cores and each seem to do it slightly differently, so any issues there should also be reported directly.

I would still report the RAM usage you are seeing though, as it appears high compared to mine and I'm on a computer that's absolutely not optimized for audio processing so it does appear odd.

it was was said here more than one time , serveral times , that ST4 use 2,1 GB RAM without any samples . How many times it needs to be said again before you guys believe experienced people .

maybe IKM should open an bug report forum where there developer read all those reports , without contact support or the team can assist . it start to sucks big times .

Windows 10 Task Manager/Processes is showing 2,111 MB (2.1 GB) for ST4 @ startup/empty, for me.

Confirmed here as well

Any reviews out yet? I googled and couldn't find any. Any thoughts on the orchestral stuff? How are the new pianos, I remember the pianos being nice in 3?

How do you install this?I did not see an installer or any instructions after downloading this.

So, Cubase with an empty Omnisphere loaded takes just over 1 Gig....are we saying SampleTank is double that of an entire DAW and Omnisphere?!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Just for devilment, I looked back at the memory use ("Working set") for some of the older products; on Windows 7 64-bit, with no instruments loaded:
  • SampleMoog - 47 MB
    SampleTank 2,5 - 118 MB
    Syntronik - 442 MB
    SampleTank 3 - 485 MB
I must admit, I am wondering how much the continuously-rescalable graphics adds to the memory usage.

IK site -> User Area/My Products/SampleTank 4/Sounds Downloads. Should be top of the list, currently.

This is not what I'm seeing, as I posted above, but since others are seeing higher usage it bears looking into. It is best to report issues directly, though I do relay issues I see here (since it does bear looking into) and on our forum. With support involved, they can recreate and also have far more precise system information to help troubleshoot.

They have definitely received direct and relayed reports of issues and 4.0.3 should be out soon, though I don't have a specific date yet. Thanks!

I will relay these as well though I know that at least the first two have been seen and sent around (as well as shared). Thanks!

2.1, when I tested it. RAM accumulates when switching presets.

Outside of the RAM use accumulated when switching presets and a few patches getting an error when trying to load them, it is a great sample player with nice effects and a intuitive workflow. IMHO...YMMV...etc etc

Peter, Please listen to Feature Requests. Kill the bugs but move forward.

Sampletank 3 is using 539.8 MB @ startup/empty for me.

Okay, here is a test:

Load one instance of ST4 standalone. The ST4 idle task is using 2.1GB memory in Windows 10 task manager. I can repeat this indefinitely with either ST4 standalone, or by using the VST plugin in a DAW host.

Now load one instrument "Red Strat Full Keyswitch". The ST4 task now is now using over 5GB memory, when the instrument loading completes.
Windows 10 and too many plugins
