I was unable to use this until yesterday!!
I’m happy I can now, so reporting back. f**k off! Lol
EDIT: There was also a macOS update I installed too, i'm not sure if it was that, or the Avenger update that fixed it, and honestly couldn't care less, because it's working as expected now![]()

But to be clear, I used a preset to replicate on multiple synths and compare few things about them including the CPU usage.m-ac wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 12:47 amAh ok, thanks.simmo75 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 5:36 pmIt was causing spike as soon as I opened it in Live.m-ac wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:41 pmWhat kind of spiking did you have? The v2.0.5 is a clear improvement over not only the v2 but also the v1. No doubt about it.

I know what you mean. Indeed I wished for more keytrack sources sometimes, so we plan too add more keytracking mod sources in one of the next updates. You will be able to add them on the zones page, and they will not be bound to osc pitch any more, they are only bound to the midi in / position on the keyboard.Mr D wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:25 pm Hi folks,
I'm having a little frustration with Avenger 2:
I've got a synth sound.
As i play higher up the keyboard, i want the sound to filter more.
But because of this filtering, i also need a volume boost.
I'm finding it really hard to set up, because although you can create many keytrack modulation sources, they all seems to be tied to the settings in zones > modmatrix keytrack controls (i mean the position of those 3 keyboard sliders).
But i don't really undertand this. Surely each keytrack modulation source should be completely independent of any other?
Am i missing something here?
I've been away from Avenger for a while so it could be i forgot how to set this up properly.
Cheers!

like said, the newest update should be a lot better. We constantly improving things in the future of course, so always check the newest updates. However you must concern one thing: Avenger has A TON of modulation possibilities and realtime controls (waveform shaping, fft etc). So when a free running lfo for example modulates the xcite. You have to check on keypress ALL modulation positions of each source and their possible destinations. This is a lot of calculation time. The lower the buffersize, the less time you give the cpu to pre-calculate this.

Never noticed so called “spikes” on my MAC in real life use with initial release but, thanks for ongoing support and prompt updates.

I'm a supporter of you in every way but this, Manuel. There is nothing solid to search for in the history of any of the KVR threads beyond something vague you said once and never responded to any of the follow up questions. There's no more clarity on the website or in the EULA either.msvs wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:24 am I wont reply to this any more, check out the history in the threads
I don't know why this is.
If you want to write a definitive answer I can put it in the FAQ. As it is, people will keep asking forever.

Also, the v2.0.5 does improve (or let's say fix) the CPU and spikes compare to the v2 AND the v1.
It is now at a very normal state when I compare with my other plugins (I am on mbp with m2 pro with CPU in low power mode).
There is no practical problem with Avenger anymore so I don't see why it should be addressed in the OP.

I did after reading KVR lol. The v1 and the beginning of the v2 were having a CPU consumption on the high side compare to other plugins (lower than Diva, much higher than serum) with some spikes going up to 40% usage on my M2 Pro.Atlatnesiti wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 10:11 am Never noticed so called “spikes” on my MAC in real life use with initial release but, thanks for ongoing support and prompt updates.
Now with the v2.0.5, the CPU usage is in the average+ compared to other synths...

Well, iPhone new releases always had some kind of controversy and it looks like Avenger follows suit
Let’s call it ‘spikegate” …

Can you post that reply? I must have missed it and I'm very aware of the issue, so having it buried in a years-old thread is pretty useless. I can then add it to the OP.Jac459 wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 12:17 pm I am a supporter of this thread but not agreeing on this one, noiseboyuk. In the previous thread (v1 of avenger) I posted a long answer from Manuel's developer colleague to my support request explaining in detail exactly what Manuel just said.

I'm going to keep the spiking question in the OP, as you can see people are still asking about it. I updated the answer last week to say 2.0.5 seems to have fixed it.

Ok, took a chance and purchased V2. Third preset I try and my CPU hits 100%. When you get a moment, could any of you test Factory 2 > Chords > CH Sonic Stab and see what your CPU use is like? A single note sends my CPU to 100%.
Mac Studio, M1 Max, Monterey, Logic 10.7.9, buffer 128.
Edit: When I enable the 'sequence' macro, the CPU gets more reasonable. It seems to be the 'chord 2' osc (spectral) which is causing the insane CPU use, which the sequence macro disables when active.
