And by knowing Madrona Labs, some modular FX plugins would bring on their knees 80% of all modern computersmartinjuenke wrote:A modular FX system would be a burner, indeed!

They have been outdone by the new Sugarbytes Aparillo. It is just as creative sound design wise as anything Madrona Labs have done but uses a tiny amount of CPU.

Aparillo is nothing at all like Aalto. I actually kind of dislike Aparillo for having a completely un-synthlike interface, and I'm so dissuaded by that that I'm not sure whether I like the sound either.
Looking forward to checking out Sumu.

Aparillo and the whole catalog of Madrona Labs plugins have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Apples and oranges. Trying to draw some kind of comparison and suggest that one was “outdone” by the other is absurd.v1o wrote:They have been outdone by the new Sugarbytes Aparillo. Aalto isn't particularly heavy on the CPU. Kaivo can be, but no more so than some basic analog emulation. Which is great considering how much more advanced it is, and how good it sounds.

Kaivo and Aparillo are both unconventional synths which are heavily skewed into creative sound design and sound fx. They also both excel at making clangy metallic sounds and some truly alien textures. Yes the underlying synthesis methods are different and they have different UI concepts. Aparillo has succeeded where Kaivo failed in being more accessible and approachable.foosnark wrote:Aparillo is nothing at all like Aalto.
