Great free vst synths that use one dll file

Some plugins require extra files like GUI resources, preset folders etc so an installer makes sense. Nothing wrong with installers in most cases since you run them once and then you can delete them. Just stay away from the Melda Productions freeware bundle as it spews hundreds of files all over your hard drive even for plugins you didn't install. Every preset for every one of their plugins with support files etc....text book definition of Bloat.

It is License Managers or Copy Protection schemes that bring the bloat. Waves Central, iLok e-Licenser, Native Access, IK License Manager etc etc.

I'm not against vst's that have installers - but I'd imagine only a maximum or one or two. Like those with very large sample libraries.

Zebralette uses a separate folder for it's gui , thus it's not embedded in the dll.

Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe I did not read the whole article. I was thinking, that he is looking for synth, that can use without instalation. Zebralette has some folders (with skins/presets...), but you can also use it without instalation - just with copy/paste the main folder (also TripleCheese, Podolski and others - DUNE CM too - which is almost free).

But I also want to mention Dead Duck Deducktion, there is only .dll file instide .zip. And it's really good plugin for free.



Another one is Kairatune (it's only mono), but great.

BTW - all plugins I mentioned in this topic are 32 and 64 bit.

hey, thanks for the heads up on this. well i tried it, love the mod matrix, but boy does the cpu use skyrocket when you start adding unison osc's.
i think having only a onboard chorus would have sufficed too if it would have saved some cpu ticks.
