Multitap delay recommendations? Also, shouldn't everyone be using one?

It's called the feedback knob and you turn it down if you don't want thatArchiteuthis wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:39 am no need for a delay that goes on seemingly forever muddying the mix.

U-he's MFM is amazing. Control over 4 taps in various configurations, lots of mod options, FB-loop FX, and most importantly: sounds great.

Sounds like Relayer (from UVI) is what you're afterArchiteuthis wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:39 am Has anyone used multitap delays to clean up their delay tails? For example, if you only need something to repeat 3 times, then that means no need for a delay that goes on seemingly forever muddying the mix.
So what about a multitap delay instead? Precise control over each tap. Would be nice to have some randomization features to create subtle pitch wobble for warmth.

yes, +1
UVI Relayer is quite perfect for this (and does a lot more)

also
eventide UltraTab
https://www.eventideaudio.com/plug-ins/ultratap/
both offer sales form time to time

Love Late Replies. Being able to add a plugin in the feedback path of a tap is brilliant.FapFilter wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:12 am Best for precise stuff i know: Blue Cat Audio Late Replies. It’s not great for modulating everything from within though.
I think once they draw the perfect cat in a space suit, they’ll get back to developing it. Any day now…If the unlikely should finally happen though, and Ohmboyz Infinity should finally get released in a non bug ridden form, we‘d probably have a new king

Turning down the feedback means the 2nd 3rd etc. taps are no longer loud enough especially with ValhallaDelay for some reason. Now, you could have suggested something helpful such as automating the feedback or using a compressor.melomood wrote: Fri Apr 15, 2022 6:51 amIt's called the feedback knob and you turn it down if you don't want thatArchiteuthis wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:39 am no need for a delay that goes on seemingly forever muddying the mix.

UVI Relayer is great but too expensive. The features I want to use seem so simple I'd rather just program my own delay at some point. The main thing I like is that you can specify a logarithmic decay which means it taps stay loud at first and then decay quickly afterwards.

Here I'm also using its built-in ducking.

If you're not satisfied with my answer, just move along and do not try to school me on technique that should be easy enough to figure out yourself
