i was reading about the making of david bowie's song "heroes"

the song was pretty much completed but david bowie said,
"it could use lead guitar" or something like that

brian eno, then said something like "oh hey i know just the guy"
brian calls robert fripp and says something like,
"we have this finished song that needs guitar, get your ass here now"

robert fripp gets his ass from brittain to berlin,
hears the song, puts the guitar part on it
just like that
amazing, that robert fripp


someday, on this thread i might type these words,
"hey you guys, i have this incredibility shitty song"
"put guitars on it, please"
"if you want"

I used to do this with a roommate who was a music student at Ithaca College. It was great… until I booted up my workstation (an Ensoniq TS-10) that we were using and found that he’d deleted all my tracks in a drunken stupor.
