I guess I can introduce that as a user interface option. (horizontal vs vertical display for the presets list)robert_p wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 7:14 pm I also have mixed feelings about the new browser - it's not bad, but vertical scrolling in 3 columns is very confusing (especially with the large factory library). It would be better if there was the possibility of horizontal scrolling (similar to u-he products - Zebra, Hive, etc.).

Many thanks for the awesome update Bulent. Love the new browser, but agree with calls for a horizontal preset array option if it's do-able. Also for the call to make the preset categories user editable (also if do-able). Overall the browser is way more workable right now. SM3 in general seems way more solid also. Lovely!

The instrument categories are fixed, they are based on Native Kontrol Standard (NKS). But for attributes and styles, I can add a + button to let user add custom attributes/styles.Brando wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 8:32 pm Also for the call to make the preset categories user editable (also if do-able).

I will fix those issues, sorry for the delay. the QWERT keyboard issue is specific to the standalone version, looks like I enabled it at startup for the standalone version.robert_p wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 1:04 pm Hi, thanks for the update. Could you please fix "Snap arp starts to DAW beat". I reported it several times - sequencer works fine but the arp doesn't snap.
also, I can't disable "QWERT Keyboard" - it reappears every time I remove and reload SM3 plugin or reopen SM3 standalone.

My bad. I realize that not all of the presets have the preview function so that there's not that little dark triangle on every patch. But I did find the preview buttons on all of the three columns (not rows - duh).Floranada wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 4:16 am ...can't seem to find the preview button on all three rows. FYI: for those of you that used the update setup, it doesn't include the NKS previews for new presets. I will update the nks presets for factory presets on the server tonight.Floranada wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 10:39 am My bad. You mean the one that only shows 20 presets without having to scroll and scroll and scroll? At least now we can see 63 presets at a glance without scrolling. That's an improvement.
On the subject of scrolling, vertical scrolling makes more sense than horizontal. Since moving the mouse wheel up and down moves the preset list up and down and not right and left (sorry Mac users, get a proper mouse). But an option to allow either vertical or horizontal would satisfy everyone.
The weakness in most preset browsers is that they limit the number of presets that show without scrolling. They favor screen space going to search functions rather than displaying the thing that's most important which are the presets.
That's why in DUNE 3 for example I almost never use the browser but instead use the old drop down method which allows me to view 228 presets at a single glance. As I mentioned before Rob Papen's Blue 3 shows 135 presets at a glance without having to scroll.
The more time you spend scrolling the less efficient a browser becomes.
Again the probelm I see with SM3's browser efficiency now is that the sound designers are using too many Instrument Types and Attributes when tagging their presets. That causes presets to show which don't really have anything to do with the original search term. (see my previous post)

Hi Bulent - I meant the ability to edit the data within the categories - for example to be able to change the variants of author names - for example, "Vandalism"* has 4 different variants, as an example. This is more problematic for some of the items Teksonik brought up - arp attributes, bass categories for sounds other than "bass", etc. Understand this is more an issue with the sounds as they were delivered from the soundset authors, but more tools to allow the user some flexibility would be appreciated - again subject to reason. Wildcards (like Vandalism* for Vandalism, Vandalism(sp), Vandalism Sound and Vandalism Sounds) would be helpful too. (If "do-able" - not trying to make a molehill into a mountain - excellent update overall).kv331 wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 8:20 amThe instrument categories are fixed, they are based on Native Kontrol Standard (NKS). Dope upgrade.
Bravo
I just started Next Generation Free set for sm3 - will be 50 free presets set available soon.
Few acoustic guitar like presets available in download section.
Synthmaster III is exceptional synth.
Cheers

This option would definitely satisfy me. Scrolling vertically causes preset numbers to jump to different positions in the 3 columns. As a Windows user I have a proper mouse with a thumb wheel, so horizontal scrolling shouldn't be a problem for me.Teksonik wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:59 pm On the subject of scrolling, vertical scrolling makes more sense than horizontal. 1. presets will be displayed like:
preset 1 preset 2 preset 3
preset 4 preset 5 ...
correct?
2. will the scrollbar be displayed as is "vertical" on the right hand side of the list, or "horizontal" on the bottom of the list ?

About that, I am trying to come up with a solution, however, since our team has dwindled now, I don't know how to cope with editing 7750 presets. I can start off with SM3 presets maybe.Teksonik wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:59 pm Again the probelm I see with SM3's browser efficiency now is that the sound designers are using too many Instrument Types and Attributes when tagging their presets. My solution is, when editing categories / styles / attributes for a preset, I can add a "relevance" field, between 1-10 for instance. 10 is most relevant, 1 is least relevant. This way, we can sort most related categories I guess. I am open to suggestions here. The relevance amount is displayed on the right hand side of the row displaying the category / style / attribute. (a relevance range between 1-10 might be too broad, maybe 1-5 might be better)

1. presets will be displayed like:

2. will the scrollbar be displayed as is "vertical" on the right hand side of the list, or "horizontal" on the bottom of the list ?
Column 2: Presets 22-42
Column 3: Presets 43-63
-- scroll horizontaly to see next column ---
Column 4: Presets 64-84
Column 5: Presets 85-105 ...
and yes, scrollbar be displayed as is "vertical" on the right hand side of the list, or "horizontal" on the bottom of the list.
