 Think I will try and follow suit sometime soon. Shooting between a 4-8 minute mostly compositional piece from me actually playing the keyboard :o and using my latest voice leading experiments to structure the chords and melodies.

@ z-prime. Can you please share your patches with us? Haven't had too much time to look into the synth yet or its presets, but noticed it has some really nice keys and basses but not drums.

Also, from that video there was an awesome pad at the beginning, anyone manage to find that preset and others like it? Will scroll the thread to pick up any patches.. Cheers

Sure. Need to figure out how to export them, though... will try to get them posted tonight.

If you need some useful preset try this one posted by spidergod earlier:
spidergod wrote:found a link to some presets (have downloaded the zip file but not checked them out yet, hopefully these are ok for this OSC?)

It contains hundrets of banks, most will work. Used from this in my track except selfmade percussion. Look for the "19xxx DX7 presets" directory. ;)

It's pretty easy one you figure out the process :)
First you should have a syx file to start from. If you're writing over all patches it doesn't matter which.Otherwise I'd recommend using the one with all INIT patches from my Dropbox (see link in earlier post...).
Then, for each sound STORE it and choose External file. Now name it (note the very strict character count...) and choose which patch in the external file to overwrite.
Filter can not be stored or loaded since the patches are dx7 compatible.

Guys, am i the only one getting different sounds from the same exact notes?
I have a basic drum pattern which i use as "scaffold" while building the whole song. It contains attack/lenght quantized, same velocity notes for the kick, snare and a sort of shaker. At time intervals which seems multiples of 8 bars the sounds of the snare and the shaker changes, resulting in a slightly different timbre, attack and duration. HAveing a reverb on that instruments augment the effect, but i notice it even with dry sounds. I spent the whole afternoon trying to get WHY.... i created a new project, new patterns, changed the reverb... i still have this note differences, even if it seems to be more noticeable when i have "lot" of Dexed instances, not just the three related to my drum track.
Am i the only one? any clue about what to do/check?

I had the same problem but only on mixdown. Ultimately what I had to do was bounce to audio internally in order to get Dexed to play back the one track correctly. And oddly, it was only at around the 1:10 mark that this happened.

Beats me what caused it, nor do I have any clue how to fix it. And yes, it seems to happen with lots of Dexed instances.

Guys (and Gals),

I'm working on a new synth. It will be awesome. It is called the Best Synth Ever, or BSE for short. Feedback is requested. This is what I have so far, it's good, right?:

I think somebody needs to keep you away from controlled substances.

Bovine Synthesizer Encephalitis? I think I'll pass. :ud:

Okay, so I found a great deal of awesome presets pretty quickly :clown: Very nice synth, reverb really brings it out. Too bad no legato modes I'm assuming..

No, mono just seems to move immediately but there is pitch bend of an octave you can always use.

Noticed the pitch envelope in the bottom right, most unique one I've encountered, and sometimes give a mono/legato feel to the sound via mimicing the glide from legato albeit slightly. But without dedicated legato, complex glided mono leads seems out this round...

Ehhh... yes. Unique is a way of putting it.

Here all the stem patches from my track.

You were right, mehum, it is indeed easy to export the patches after figuring out the sorta obscure process. Thanks for the INIT bank, I did use that as my starting point.

You need to find the right note for the patch, obviously... some of the ones with noise have high pitched stuff on some key ranges; the drums sound best on a very small note range, obviously. For the saw in my track, I ended up stacking 8 instances, panning hard left/right, tweaking the detune settings on each slightly and mapping all the filter cutoffs to a macro control in Bitwig. (Side note: I've updated the track from the original version as the saw was too weak; probably will again after fixing another issue with the mix I'm not happy with so I can submit it to the immediate fame and fortune edm network but now instead have to go back and redo the whole thing because I'm giving you all my patches!)

For a few other sounds, they sound best when stacked with small tweaks and panning hard right/left for stereo. Some others I added some automation to parameters in Bitwig (the Note MOD in v1.1 is very awesome!).

Now, with the basic sounds you do need a bit of EQ. For the drums, you also would want a compressor and limiter to make them more punchy. Brian wrote up a good tutorial on making a snare a while ago: here. Turns out DEXED sounds pretty good with just one instance with the right EQ + limiter.

There you go. All the info you need to make super awesome immediate fame and fortune EDM track! Enjoy!
