Wait for a statement or ask him.
It is discontinued on his page and I cant even download the 1.10 update now from his page which I am entitled to as a customer who bought thorn... this is really bad business practice and no consent was given to give our email adress to pa.. Absolutely no communication from dimitry.. really really shocked and disappointed

Almost certainly there will be increased sales. PA have a very wide reach, far wider than the niche that Dmitry currently occupies. The increased prices are part of PAs (IMO outdated) marketing techniques and will certainly be heavily discounted on a fairly frequent basis.

Yes, naturally the customs can't inspect a parcel when dealing with digital goods :), so it needs to be dealt with diffrently. I was replying to the "I haven't seen so many US online stores which actually discharge VAT" with all online stores in mind, as in, not having the customer pay the VAT upfront isn't a sign that the VAT isn't still handled correctly. But yep, I was being too off topic and should have kept it in context.
It appears also that there's a simplified process for online stores to discharge VAT every quarter of a year or so in the respective countries. I don't think i ever paid VAT on a quite popular (on KVR) US online store though. Not that i complain or something. :)

Pew, I've been lucky then because I've dl'ed it one or two hours ago (was still using v1.03).

And you're right: The link is gone in the meantime.

Seems that there are more 'business errors' than already noticed happening during the transition.

For Dmitry this is probably a good business move.

The messaging here is not good though, which is what gets people fired up. But I used my PA $25 February voucher to pay for the "upgrade" so I'm all set.

I hope third party patches will still work though...I have Touch the Universe's three sets. Will try and see.

As for people saying "glad I never bought DS plugins"...well. He may not be the best business man on the planet but wow can he make great plugins.

Yeah, to be clear here, my apprehension is not with Dmitry Sches, it's with the Plugin Alliance's tactics. For Dmitry it is understandable. You have to do what you have to do as a creator. There is nothing virtuous about making great products and then barely scraping by (or even losing money) because the economics of the industry are stacked against you. But for PA they could make this a win win by not resorting to these BS tactics.
I guess my defenses go up when I see another middle man in the audio industry lining their pockets by doing things that are contrary to the interests of the musicians that keep them in business. To me it puts them in the same category as the likes of Gobbler, ilok, and spotify.

As long as there's a good crossgrade price to Diversion 2 for PA Thorn owners (see: UA BYOME) I'm happy

Wasn't Dmitri also collaborating with Nomad Factory? I wonder if that cooperation will keep going, now that he is joining Plugin Alliance?

Also, if anyone for some reason wants my Heavy Hitter code, just quote me; the first one to do it will get it.
Would really appreciate this, could go for an upgrade to Sandman I've been thinking about if you definitely don't need it DM me, it'll get used.
Just to mark this code as unused by me, still up for grabs, it's Thorn specific, so probably for new users only to get a further reduction on the intro price.

Did anyone not get a voucher this month? My last email from them was back in January.

I got mine. When was the last time you bought something from them?

In September, and am a 'heavy hitter'.

I'm with you on that. It may seem a bit idealistic but i like to think of this part of the industry as being one in which smaller talented businesses can thrive without the big players taking over and dominating it like so many other industries. The "alliance" concept itself is not necessarily a bad one, but the heavy marketing and questionable practices of PA don't sit well with me and i really don't want to see them become the only viable option for independent devs that want to earn a living. It's still preferable to when Camel sold out to Apple though.
