It seems there are some lucky b@#*$!£s here that had the chance to try it as beta testers and sound designers :x

Video presentation was like a fairy tale, with dub-step soundtrack, not what I'm dissing it, it was entertaining to watch, wanna see it in action though.

Derpy N-64 melodies with pitch bends at the end of every phrase. Check.
Super predictable glitching that makes you wish Windowlicker was never the seminal track it was, even though you love that track.... Freakin' CHECK.

What you have to remember about tone2 is their marketing department aims this stuff at kids. They're the ones with all the money apparently. I just ignore all their marketing blurbs and demos, because if I didn't I'd never buy a single thing of theirs, and that would be a shame because I think the majority of them are decent people and their synths are quite unique and useful. I just wish they'd get a new marketing team or get them to "tone" it down :hihi:

I'm right with you. I still love the sound of Gladiator II but I've avoided their other synths because of the cheezeball marketing from Tone2. Also, not a huge fan of the way they structure their upgrades. Remember when they promised us resynthesis of your own samples in Gladiator II? There was even a grayed out button that was quietly removed... then when Electrax came out with this functionality I got really turned off.

Some posts in this thread are far beyond the supposed exagerations of the teaser video

Come on, you are saying the video is not serious and uses a cheezeball marketing language and at the same time you say that you do not buy a product if you don't like the adv? So basically you buy the adverts... :hihi:

For God sake do not take offence but you must admit this statement is hilarious ;)

That was about the most awful promo video ever. I was ready to stick screwdrivers in my ears within seconds of hearing the narration and it went on and on and on repeating the same thing like a bad attempt at brainwashing.

I just assume that Tone2 does it on purpose as some sort of sadistic satire :hihi:

Post

Is it me or that video is an 80's parody/homage, only not 80's enough & not bad *enough* for everyone to realize it's a parody?
So to me that's where it fails, there are a ton of 80's inspired promo videos that work better. Not saying it needs VHS filters, but it needs to be fully 80's, not with bits of 90's & 2000's (there's even dubstep).

that's what I'm thinking, it's just misunderstood, possibly because the makers didn't really know where to go

"Authentic emulation of organs"
that's a hell of a statement, in FM synthesis bells and organs go hand in hand, one small slip left or right and you end up with nothing but bells and organs in your hands haha

There's such a thing as 'subtext'.

What does the subtext of this trainwreck of a video tell you about the people who commissioned and released it? And what does it say about their view of their customers?

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

There is also such a thing as no subtext

general public appeal, that's why it was entertaining to watch it with snacks in hand, I love steinberg videos, steinberg beats them all, one of the most amusing promo videos haha

I'm really excited about Nemesis, looks like to be a powerful and versatile synth with very good sound.
OK Grandpa, just don't try using the falling sheep transition. :hihi: (man, I just dated us)

No, not really because they tried the same crap with Saurus ("True analog sound with state of art functionality!") and I wasted my time demoing it only to find a very mediocre VA plug in. The Rayblaster demo was also a let down. I wanted to buy Electrax, but it seemed too close to Gladiator II to me with no decent crossgrade price.

And frankly, as I said earlier, the cheezeball marketing is supercurdified™ by the fact that the sound track of it uses overblown and overdone trancy-dubsteppy sounds that frankly sound cold and thin to me. Want to hear good sounding FM plug in synths?

I'll still download and check out the demo, but I hope I can make it sound better than their demo tracks.

Since we're talking about bad advertising, here's one from Tim Exile that's so terrible it's literally brilliant.

Since the guy makes decent music I'm sure it's ironic. That moment when he stops the music by pressing a key on the keyboard cracks me up.
