Now that you mention it, I also got a copy of F'em, back when it was available for an irresistibly discounted price. I love it, and I think it has great potential, but I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. I'm looking forward to programming my own patches for it in the future.zerocrossing wrote: Tue Dec 27, 2022 4:51 pm So, as the year grinds to a halt, I’ll take a tally.

Getting ready for my first live set in several years and my old Carvin mixer died (PSU issues)!
I’ve been trying to get my hands on an A&H MixWizard 20:8:2 in good shape for a while but I need something for next week.
I decided to go with a Soundcraft GB2r 12. Comparable specs to a MixWizard 14.2 but with a pair of stereo returns and some other neat tricks. So that is officially my last gear purchase of the year.

Was after some xtra OR logic and found York Modular were having a sale.
Managed to pick up two of these for less than £30 all in, postage was free.

Plan is to use it in a combo with drum sequencing things like Kompas and Grids to fire on beats when the others aren’t triggering.

I pre-ordered XPO, not sure if that qualifies? First time I saw Make Noise included in the sales at Perfect Circuit, so I clicked the purchase button.vurt wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:54 pm ooh couple of last minute purchases above!!

Who knows when it’ll actually be in stock though.

Need advice on something basic.
I have an RME Digiface interface and I’ve currently got outputs 15/16 out from a ADA8200 mic pre into monitors and I’m using the headphone output from the Digiface into headphones.
I’m using an Expert Sleepers ES-3/6 combination to handle most of the audio in and out to link my eurorack to my modular.
I’ve run into an issue which I can’t seem to solve where if I pipe CV out from the VCV Rack plugin in a DAW track to, for instance, send an amplitude envelope to the physical rack I don’t seem to have any way to not hear the CV clicking, popping and whirring in my headphones.
I’m using Reaper, routing audio from one of the VCV audio out channels to a mono track that I send to the ES-3 and I uncheck the monitoring option in the track, but still hear that CV to a point where it’s unusable.
The kicker is that over monitors I don’t hear the CV at all.
Nothing I seem to try in the RME settings/mixer makes any difference.
So, ideally someone knows a solution for the RME issue, but if not can anyone recommend a small form factor box with XLR ins and outs that would let me pass that port 15/16 audio to the monitors or mute the monitors and let me listen on headphones?
Needs to be powered for up to 600 Ohm cans.

plus i had to buy lighting for the studio yesterday because the ceiling socket seems to have died. nother £25 for two desk lamps.
(but its still 2022, so what I posted in the 2023 thread doesnt count yet. and its not audio gear. right?
An idiot on Set Theory:

i think (who knows for sure?) it's the point of sale, so ordering today counts as this year. you could well be taking the final purchase of 2022 with this, but then, as you said, it's not audiowhyterabbyt wrote: Sat Dec 31, 2022 2:53 pmi did buy a couple of video things off ebay today, a PAL video titler and a PAL video 'enhancer' thing. (as the powers that be haven't seen fit for a video forum, video stuff will count as audio gear till we get one!)
wonder who will be the first purchase of 23???
although, is it already 23 somewhere yet?

Some last minute day buys:
4ms Mini PEG & Make Noise Function (if the seller responds)
These will replace my After Later Tilt and NSI Inertia. Inertia is cool in theory, but in practice I wasn't using it that much for modulation or even as a filter. Tilt makes some nice shapes but I didn't enjoy its ergonomics, and honestly I don't have a lot of need for an ADSR style envelope in the modular. PEG should work well for me though, and I know I really like how Function feels and works.

Ah, something I forgot to mention. I got a Wobble Box for Christmas:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1100175694 ... ve-control
It's a passive, pressure sensitive piezo gizmo that generates CV when squished. Not constant DC if you apply constant pressure, because it's passive. But the voltage tends to go positive (and fall back to zero) when pressed, and negative (and back to zero) when released. You can generate (messy) triggers by tapping it, or wave it around (or put it on something that vibrates, I guess) to generate a low voltage LFO sort of thing. It's good for modulating delay times or pitch. You could probably put it on a loud enough speaker and it'd pick up lo-fi audio from it.

This is the year I found out I could replace the "heads" on my electronic drumset trigger pads. I have an acoustic set with some electric drumset elements, so after I learned I could change the drum heads I bought some Remo heads to match my kit! Check out my studio setups here if you're interested! https://patrickrfblakley.com/prfb/drumset/drum-setups/
