LOL!!

Are you giving me permission to turn this thread into a paranormal discussion? (Runs away really fast, whilst yelling:

I have licenses for a sh!t ton of softs - and part of the reason why is because of what just happened to CA does indeed happen - so with plenty of others to use, I'm fine.

But: companies like CA are rare - super good people/outstanding software - I hate to see them go away (maybe just for now - we really don't know anything, do we? And: if there are people here that do know what happened and have been sworn to keep it secret - *please* stay quiet and out of potential trouble - legal issues suck) - I'm def lamenting
Yeah , I suck at playing keys or programming synths but I do make some happy accident s actually the Alchemy tutorual vids are top notch ... Next time a build a computer I'll probably purchase Madronna Labs Kaivo . I have an older i7 2.66 CPU and Kaivo eats it for lunch , so does Uhe Diva btw ... What I liked about Alchemy is it covered most synths old n new as well as weird sampler sound design stuff with one product even the stock library and taste of camel covered a bunch of ground .. I hope its not Apple that stole these guys away ..imho
That's great, fedexnman! I personally wouldn't worry too much if Apple did indeed acquire CA - which IMHO is probably far-fetched - it seems more likely that CA may have either burned out, or hit a wall of some sort, either financially or legally (or worst case: both! :o - I hope not!).

These things happen.

I would greatly prefer to hear that the CA people got a ton'o'$$$ from Apple, after Apple watched Alchemy absolutely rock their ipads and iphones...

the browser update was long time ago :(
i do love the new browser, it made it easier to browser the 1000 sounds you wont use anyway, because you like only around 400 of the sounds :hihi:

just had a play with Serum and made pads tables and a couple of presets, you can really do that lushy glassy pads with Serum too - only hold back is that i havnt figured out how to prevent notes from playing broken, they cut out in the middle of playing, really annoying, never happened with Alchemy.

wondering if Alchemy2 ever had a stronger Granular Engine as Alchemy 1 has. i felt lmited with that Engine, i tried to make some drones out of stretched cymbals in 2012, but it never turned out to be something deep sounding.

still like this tutorial by blu mar ten using alchemy as source material

Except for maybe showing all the latent fanboys how they're really no different from everyone they claim to be different from. But no, in general you're right.
ThomasHelzle wrote:It would not only hurt PC users though. If they don't deconstruct it for spare parts (which they did with Shake and other software and which would be the most devastating move), it would probably become AU only if not Logic/Mainstage only, so even Mac users couldn't use it in - for instance - Bitwig Studio and other VST-only hosts.

My feeling is that they'll at least preserve Alchemy intact. Along with the sound libraries, it's a solid marketable package as is and taking it apart seems like a waste of energy and time to me. AU-only is likely.
ThomasHelzle wrote:Those big company acquisition are rare to do anybody much good in the long run. Even if they keep Alchemy alive, it will probably no longer evolve as much as it did.
This is a disquieting truth. Some years ago I eventually had to get a Mac for professional reasons and curiosity pushed me to get Logic again; but what struck me the most when I finally got Logic 7 was how little it really had evolved from version 5. Someone mentioned that the softsynths haven't evolved since Logic 7...
ThomasHelzle wrote:I personally was burnt by many such things in the past, the worst one being Autodesk buying Softimage XSI, which after agonizing years of paid-for stagnation they finally dumped last year to the trashcan of software history.
That's the worse case scenario though: abandonware. That's a real shame and hopefully that's not happening here.

i never understand the whole iOS crap, why would i use my ipad for controling? when i could use my mouse, when im anyway in front my computer and could use it.

not to mention you are fairly limited in terms of backing up stuff, when you run something from apple. i went thru this to get a single f**king pdf on my ipad w/o using either itunes or any cloud service, it is simply not possible. and jailbreaking was never was never solution for me.
but we all know that from crapple? do we? yes we do ...
so if the camel stuff ever ends up with crapple, we can forget about having it on windows or on linux(for example).

one more time crapple.

We could start a flame war... what did you bet?
Unlikely. There had been opportunities enough for a flame war on this 150+ pages and nothing happened. Either it is because all are united in their grief or it is because they are united in humour, or both. No chance for a flame war 8) Way too much peace and love here. That`s scary   But also very nice :)

I also think that the moderators here are very tolerant. It seems to be a bit different to other forums I have been before. I find it very relaxed here. So: No bet on a flame war. It is more likely that we all someday cannot bear anymore the 1000th Camel Photo or the 10 000th "Alchemy is the best Synthesizer I know" comment

But when exactly will this happen??? That`s the question. I don`t dare to make a second bet.

On a serious note - skimming over the last dozen pages it seems most have assumed a buyout by Apple. I don't see any hard evidence of this though - why were people supposed to assume this from Chris Randall's tweets?

I'm in the same boat as y'all though, hoping that it isn't the case. :( There's no way they wouldn't make that Logic-only, and I use Live 9 on PC.

To get pdf's onto your iPad install the kindle app. It's free and you then get an email address where you can email pdf's to yourself, and they appear in the kindle app...

I used to drink a lot of Snapple. Then I realized I got the runs from it. It was an awakening moment in my life. I still have the runs, but I know where it comes from.

When Redmatica got bought out by Apple they gone out in similar fashion, which is quite atypical (usually you see some sort of press release or explanation at least).

Because to buy up and shut down great tech companies in total secret silence is Apple's MO.

And because other plugin vendors have said that if they'd bought Camel Audio, they'd be shouting about it from the rooftop. (if they have one)

And because Camel did so well on iTunes. And because they have sooooooo much money to throw around and kill good products just to get a few points playing VP ping pong.

And yes, they would make Applechemy OSX only. And that would be the good altruistic Apple to even do that.

My guess is grab IP, kill all existing products, garner more ill-will and later play the victim card, with "The richest corporation in the world needs love too. Buy more iPads!"
