It is not a watermark, your information is present in plain text in every single preset...

Code: Select all

for f in `find . -name '*.preset'`; do perl -pi.bak -e 's/<appropriate regex>//mg;' ${f}; done
Easier on OSX, BTW.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

I see some folks selling alchemy sound libraries.
It used to work like this;
"A sound library license can only be transferred once, and only via our Registration Service. It then acquires NFR (Not For Resale) status."
Anybody knows how and if it works now?
Thanks in advance.

Camel Audio Terms and Conditions page lists the following address:

Camel Audio Limited of Oakmoore Court, 11c Kingswood Road, Hampton Lovett, Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, WR9 0QH, UK,

while their Privacy Policy page lists the following address:

Camel Audio
TechCube
1 Summerhall
Edinburgh
Midlothian EH9 1PL
UK

Have they always had two addresses? Could this be a hint about their future or their buyer? Is anyone aware of another audio company located at or near one of these addresses?
I witnessed the Nice, France terrorist attack, told the story with a music video: https://youtu.be/eHhw4Bl9HOs

Nothing has changed. Always been like this.

They probably didn't update part of the site. The company's address on official documents is the Edinburgh one. It changed last year from what I can gather.

Yes, and you can be sure if that type of setup is not already patented, you will see Apple granted a "wirelessly controlled software synthesizer" software patent in the near future. Apple loooves patents. Like they're obsessed. If Tim Cook and Co. could patent the family dog they would. And they couldn't get such a software patent without owning the technology. Question is: Alchemy Mobile goes back to 2011(?)... was it the first? 2011 is pretty far back, even if "remote DAW control" existed at the time.

Jusanother angle...
Not remote daw control, but some sort of hybrid outboard touch-interface/ 'onboard' software synth maybe. Not that it has to have merit. It seems to me the USPTO will let you patent toilet paper if you can make up a software angle to it and they seem particularly gullible when an application contains references to touchscreen interactions.

I don't think that's the angle though. For one I'm not sure you can patent something with prior art by buying the prior art and then claiming originality for yourself. Interesting question though. If you could though, that would again be very Apple... :D

In that case, let the speculations continue... :-)

No, a company can't realistically do that. US patent law is first to invent not first to file – things like lab notebooks are used as records.

People have dressed up patents to attempt to pretend they're not kiboshed by prior art. And the USPTO will let you do that. It's when the patent is challenged in court that they get found out. Unfortunately, that's the expensive bit. One miscreant took a bunch of companies to the cleaners in the 1980s over Token Ring networking before Bob Madge decided to fight it - and win.
