For GrooveAgent commercial libraries nope too.T-CM11 wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 3:07 pm Has anyone received vouchers to upgrade their libraries to the new licensing?
I got them for Granular Symphonies and Zero Gravity (both Padshop), but nothing for Halion yet...

Yes, you have to open activation manager to receive and activate the license on your machine. Your machine doesn't automatically received activated licenses.felis wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 5:19 pmOK thanks. I found it in the Steinberg download assistant too.
edit - a waste of time right now though. I tried to use it, and I get a 'no valid license found' message. Maybe they'll get it sorted out.

Footnote- the Steinberg says it automaticity activates which is a bit misleading, as it says above you need both the download manager than the activation manager- note, it took about 15 minutes from download before with licence showed up in the activation manager. I am sure Steinberg could have made this more complicated if they tried, I am just not exactly sure how!billcarroll wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 6:32 pmYes, you have to open activation manager to receive and activate the license on your machine. The downloads manager is a bit of a ness, I wasn't sure what bits to download when I stated, what things were free/included and what was a paid extra as it lets you download and install anything, it just wont run...
The UVI product managers for Falcon etc lets you download and activate from the same app...seems so simple!
How do updates work in the downloader or whatever they call it, does it tell you what app has been updated?

A horrible mess, I would say.SLiC wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:00 pm ....The downloads manager is a bit of a ness, I wasn't sure what bits to download when I stated, what things were free/included and what was a paid extra as it lets you download and install anything, it just wont run...
I love Steinberg stuff, but they're absolutely a convoluted pit, with a ridiculous amount of hoops to jump through.
They could take a big lesson from Arturia, which IMO, is positively impeccable in comparison.
Edit: OK just tried SAM again, and it showed up to be activated.
Seems a bit ridiculous to have to activate a freebie, but at least I can check it out now.

You don't have to deactivate or reactivate anything.

Same thing for Arturia... and many many other freebie releasing companies, nowadays. AFAIK, the main(?) reason is that it won't be a freebie forever

Yup- I comment at the stay of this thread as a new user of Steinberg stuff having to download and install 4 programs just to try a demo was very off putting! Steinberg (and in many ways HALions) big problem is 'legacy' and I am sure eventually they will have 1 program for download, manage and activate their programs, but until then it is very confusing and probably off-putting to new users.

Once it showed up, I could see that. But when I first looked, it only showed Absolute and Cubase.
Halion is part of Absolute, and Colors runs within Halion, but Colors didn't show up for a bit.
I think I'll delete it anyways - not my style.

I understand having to activate, its easier to just use the same protocol as paid plugs - I think the issue is just the crap Steimberg apps -having to download with one app- wait 10 minutes or so and then activate with another app. I downlead, installed- ran HALion- it said I had no licence- opened authoriser - no licence there to activate- gave up!
Just happed top notice it was there 15 minutes latter when I was looking at something else. Messy.

I didn't have to wait any amount of minutes. But I'm not defending it - the best DRM is no DRM.SLiC wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:24 pm I understand having to activate, its easier to just use the same protocol as paid plugs - I think the issue is just the crap Steimberg apps -having to download with one app- wait 10 minutes or so and then activate with another app. I downlead, installed- ran HALion- it said I had no licence- opened authoriser - no licence there to activate- gave up!

Yes the updates usually come in at the top of the list, and it will keep memory of what you've already downloaded in the past and mark those items green.SLiC wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:00 pm How do updates work in the downloader or whatever they call it, does it tell you what app has been updated?
It's not perfect... But they're slowly getting there.. I noticed with the latest H7 update that sound content was able to be partially updated and it checked vs the library manager as to what was installed already. In Steinberg world that's akin to witchcraft!

Well, I bought HALion 7 so I am at least partially in the 'Steinberg' world now...they seem to march to the beat of their own drum in many aspects of pro audio- some good, some bad!
I like the sound of the FM engine a lot (one of the main reasons I went in) but editing is a nightmare- it really is like they copied a 6 inch hardware screen of a MODX and you have to tab through every page! Someone should tell them you are allowed a bigger editing window
PS- the free sounds in 'Colours' are actually very good (once I worked out you have to click the little boxes to select pre-sets- felt like an IQ test!)

Well said- hopefully you get a response from Steiny...this is a general issue for me across all of the GUI/UX...it is like someone said 'we need to design all GUIs to fit in a 6 inch box!!digitallysane wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 8:05 pmI made a feature request in regards to that:SLiC wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:48 pmI like the sound of the FM engine a lot (one of the main reasons I went in) but editing is a nightmare- it really is like they copied a 6 inch hardware screen of a MODX and you have to tab through every page!
