I would love to see the Matrix 12/Xpander filter modeled. I'm not sure if the original has the real-time morphing that the Doepfer clone does, but it would be nice to have onboard.Urs wrote:Thanks mate!Kees49 wrote:I just bought Diva and I have to say € 165,- is not much money for what you get.
You'll get a lovely, analoque sounding synth with lots of attitude.
My question to Urs is: will there be P5 / Poly6 filter modules in the future inside Diva? IMHO I think they would really complement the synth a lot.
I think you are a great guy and I wish you all the best with the U-he company!
We haven't had any time yet to make future plans for Diva or anything. Our synth collection grew by a pile of Oberheims, and the Pro One is still crying for help. We have offers to borrow a few CS-80ies and a Rev 2 Prophet 5, among others.
Thus, well, things are all open from here on. After Musikmesse next week we'll have to deal with a few things that we're announcing, and then we might get our ears fried in analysis.
Whatever we choose, it needs to be very distinct from what we already got. We will most likely favour "broader range of sound" over "subtle shades of glory". There Oberheims (OB-X, Matrix 12 etc.) are definately in that category, but I haven't had a proper listen to any of the SSM based designs.
We'll see...

Reading that Urs et al. were so busy lately with something else that there even wasn't time to improve the shading of Diva's knobs, I think I know the answer to my question already. But ya never know, so, has there been any progress made with the 64 bit VST version of Diva for OSX? (I would happily help with testing pre-release versions).
Cheers,
Jack

We got VST3 64-bit going on Mac, but it doesn't yet load/store/remember presets. We'll show it next week, but then we'll have a few more days of work until it can go out.Funkasizer wrote:Reading that Urs et al. were so busy lately with something else that there even wasn't time to improve the shading of Diva's knobs, I think I know the answer to my question already. Good GOD what a BEAST!! In a good way!
For years, in my mind, I often confuse the terms 'u-he' and 'flawless'.
There's not words for how good DiVA is, 'flawless' doesn't even come close. No other software synth Ive heard comes close.
Truly a softsynth milestone, and if anyone was going to do that, I would have put money on U-He.
The cost is occasionally maxing out my i5 quad-2.6ghz. Which also is a good thing.

On a positive note... our experimental multicore implementation looks very, very promising. Since some time yesterday evening.

I finally relented and tried the demo, I didn't want to right now as I am short of cash and didn't want it to run out before I can buy the thing. I have to say... JUST WOW. I actually stood up from my desk and was just saying to myself, "this thing sounds amazing". I read a Urs comment earlier in the thread that the sound is derived from the algorithms as much as it is oversampling/divine mode or whatever. I'd have to agree, even on draft mode, the character still comes through and it's really organic.
Now I am considering going on holiday in May with a lot less money and buying this right now, Well done all the U-he crew, this really feels like a milestone has been reached. Before anyone thinks this is just ass kissing, bear in mind I am a real cynical SOB most of the time. Credit where it's due.
One question... is Berlin modular going to sound like/as good as this ?

Great sound!!
Just a note, there's a strange sentence in the manual on page 15:
Just a note, there's a strange sentence in the manual on page 15:
I'm no native english speaker. If to filter out means to remove something, the second part of the sentence is wrong. If it means the opposite, the first part is wrong. Either way, it contradicts itselfHP is a high-pass (it filters out the low frequencies) and BP a band-pass (this filters out a band of frequencies around the cutoff point).
