Upd:
1)Voice count switch - now variable unison tightness and ability to be monophonic

2)Removed brightness filter and other "analog" oscillator adjustments - its quite questionable for me how analog oscillators work. I cant predict how schematics affect the sound, because i am a programmer , not an electronic engineer

However i understand how filters work but still got some questions left...

Dont worry, as for me it sounds even better now

Especially for the voice count switch. I actually prefer monophonic sounds and 2-3 voices in unison differently panned if needed. Great update!

Brightness filter? I'm not gonna miss it. Klanghelm IVGI is good for that. It will also add some nice analog feel too.

Either play with the "asym mix" or "response". I use it massively.

Off to play with the new version!

Actually it was 6 dbo low pass filter set on 15-20 khz for smoother sound. But actually sounds are lot smoother without any damping (dont know the psychoacoustic aspect of that, but i know that analog hardware always considered as "bright" compared to softsynths)

is there a way to get a GUI in Live? I only have the raw controls at the bottom...

I just made an almost exact sound like the main sound in Eurythmics' "The Walk". I simply

this synth. I love the way I program sounds in Reaper and how smoothly automation works. GUI and automation don't go well together unless really neatly programmed.

Anyway, you will immediately recognise what sound can be made with Obxd... and with judicious amount of IVGI.

I'm sorry I didn't record it. I was just toying. But I can assure you it sounded so similar that I almost decided to make a remix of their song just for the fun of it.

But I'm working on something else and more serious currently. However, Obxd will get some usage, absofu*enlutely. I will post a link when I finish it... in a month or two. [kidding but I hate deadlines

p.s. I think I could make the "Sweet Dreams" sound rather easily, too. I wonder if Eurythmics used an OB-X or any OB for the album. I know they used an E-MU Emulator II a lot http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/emulator2.php. 8 bit!![and !] Maybe it was a sampled instrument... if you ask me, Obxd sounds better. I think the Eurythmics sound is a bit too muddy for my taste in comparison. It's probably those 8 bits and 27 or less kHz.

Sweet Dreams' synth parts were made with a Juno 60 (maybe Juno 6) and an SH-09, multitracked on an 8-track tape machine. The Emulator II came out a few years later IIRC.

P.S found tasty oversampling implementation. Now i can make it sound phat and analog even @44 khz...

Yeah, I remembered it wrong, and Emulator II was released in 1984, 1 year after their album anyway.

I remember reading an interview with Dave Stewart mentioning they also used some sampler... it could maybe be Ensoniq Mirage, but as I said, I probably remembered it wrong.

Maybe they used the Synclavier, which was very popular in the early 80's. It was mentioned on countless album sleeves...

Interestingly, it never gets mentioned on KVR.

Ok so used it along side OPX in a project and it does sound good, but it's not anywhere near as 'rich' sounding as OPX even on basic sounds, it's quite good for a freebie but It sounds a bit lifless compared to opx.

Sure it was a Juno 60. A guy I used to make music with was really into those synth sounds and found a contact email for Dave Stewart and I'm sure he said it was a Juno-60. Think they used a Movement drum computer system MK1 for the drums.
This one is a MKII I think.
It is a great looking machine.

Of course they sound different.
To bring some life to obxd try to adjust voice detune , osc2 detune and pannings.

Is it lifeless? You cant get such bright sound from opx.
