I only just realised that there's an awful lot of plugins that UAD still haven't ported to native, I thought they'd made faster progress than this. Have they said anything about a roadmap?
(Here's the list that is currently UADx - https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articl ... UAD-Spark- )
There is no roadmap.
UAD still worth it?

I don’t have access to EP-34, but have you compared it to Softube’s Tape Echoes?noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:35 amThe EP-34 is great fun. I only have IK Tape Echo, but Softube covers the Echoplex sound very well (as far as I can tell, never having used a real Echoplex) and is more flexible. I deleted IK Tape Echo in favor of Softube.
Had a been fun stemming from this video here:

I'm also back in UAD land
It's fun to be able to use the UAD plugins again after so many years. I also bought the Essential Bundle and that certainly won't be the last plugin....
Well, I'd be lying if I said I really needed these plugins.... But it's always good to have a few more options. I think it could replace some Waves stuff and maybe Slate (I'm still testing Oxide against VTM).
I loved the UAD1 but the poor performance despite 2 DSP cards just wasn't an option for me to rely on UAD in the future. But I hope UA will find a good way between interesting offers to reach more users but also not to give away the plugins below value.
The way Plugin Alliance is doing this I think is terrible. Selling plugins for $300 and then giving them away for $50 on a regular basis is actually a kick in the butt for the users who paid the high price.
On a side note, no problem with iLok or UA connect.

I grabbed the freebie, but, yeah, every additional plugin manager which is required to install plugins is really one too much these days...
Wished they would offer single installers like others.

If you have the free LA2A you can upgrade to the full LA2A collection for $28 on Plugin Discounts:

It’s gotten out of control. It’s not bad if you use one company but it’s a bit painful when you only use one plugin from a developer that requires their own plugin manager.chk071 wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 3:57 pm I grabbed the freebie, but, yeah, every additional plugin manager which is required to install plugins is really one too much these days...

Sure, just like *all* the other UADx plugins, including the LA-2A Collection.dremin wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 4:35 pm but the $50 essentials bundle still requires ilok cloud or dongle, am i right?
it's only the free LA-2A that supports machine authorisation.

Exactly. I just checked, and, I already have 7 license/activation managers on my system. And 2 or 3 download managers which are necessary for some audio software as well.elxsound wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 5:28 pmIt’s gotten out of control. I get it, when you have several plugins from a company, it's very tedious to install all the single plugins or sounds (I have the case with Native Instruments, Komplete, and the single plugins I have from them), but, the downside is to have to install all those additional manager software.

The synth "Polymax" is also very nice. Somehow a combination of Juno, Jupiter, Oberheim, whatever. And totally easy to use and needs very little processing power. Does the Polymax have anything to do with the Opal synthesizer?
I have replaced some plugins in a test project with UAD and I would even say that they need a little less processing power, so they are programmed very efficiently. Overall I think the UAD plugins are definitely worth it (and that was actually the question in the thread).
This is the small test project

...and this is how it sounds (mostly Ana2, Serum, Dune, Repro, Synthmaster, Polymax and the UAD FX: Fairchild, Oxide, LA2A Silver, Pultec, Galaxy Tape Echo

It's a pain with UA Connect going between two different computers. Ilok cloud is not a favorite. I've gotten "restart daw" messages on UA Connect amongst others. Typically need to reauthorize the set every time I go from one to another even though Ilok claims I have two authorizations available.

I just added the licenses to a hardware dongle iLok and deleted the connect app. The app is really bad and constantly kept popping up it's window, even in the middle of mixing.

You only have one iLok Cloud session on your iLok account, regardless of which computer you are using. Think of your iLok Cloud session as an "internet dongle". If you want to use two activations, activate one to iLok Cloud, and one to a dongle, and put the dongle on your second machine.heyheycnv wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 8:22 pm It's a pain with UA Connect going between two different computers. You can't activate one plugin twice to your iLok Cloud session, just as you can't activate one plugin twice to a single USB dongle.
In the case of dongles, you can can activate one plugin to two different dongles, but with iLok Cloud, you can't "add another Cloud session", you only get one per account (as it's a server resource.)
Hope that makes how iLok works a little more clear.
