Please tell me that I'm misreading something here- if not, then it's a sad, sad day for us Camel Audio fans :

I'm not interested in starting any rumors. Rather, I simply can't believe my own eyes when I read this from their site. Anyone else seeing this after logging into their camel audio account?

Chill out. The only available Camel Audio software for pirates is super outdated copies of their plugins. Once they changed over to a watermark form of DRM, piracy was no longer an option for the plugins. Pretty sure they switched over a real long time ago too.

Anyways, this has me upset. I always wanted to pick up Alchemy but was somewhat waiting for Alchemy 2 since I already have way more f**king plugins than I honestly need. I wonder the reason.

No. I will not chill out. I stand by my thoughts on the subject. Whatever caused this, and I suspect it's piracy; is hideous, and I am angry, and sad about it.

I think Alchemy was the first or second softsynth I bought, and the first one I "fell in love with." I suppose it will always be something kind of special in my memory.

How do you know piracy was no longer an option when the leeches share every form of "soft" property as if it didn't take someone years of work to put together. There's a soulless, disgusting rot in our society, a lack of respect that goes beyond evolution or economics.

Merely venting my anger and frustration with whatever has led to Camel Audio's decision. Can't see how it could be anything other than theft and lack of supporting profit which has led them to this course.

I actually feel sorry for those who did not buy it and will miss out on this great synth if things stay like this.

That's why I do not understand not providing a heads up. If they said after such and such a date sales would cease they could get all the fence sitters out there to buy product. Do they not need the money in any event???

It almost sounds like the actions of a company that got a legal "cease and desist" threat. If they had been bought out usually there is a joint press release to inform existing and potential users of product/support continuity and who the new entity will be to continue sales/support. And if it was a tax issue why not say so?

But just to go dark without an explanation is very strange. I have to think the user base is fairly substantial after almost 15 years and do not deserve to have the floor pulled out from underneath them. Their Facebook page is still up so why wouldn't they echo the closure info there as well. It all seems so rash and ad hoc.

And Alchemy 2 was literally on the verge of release. I know someone who knew how close they were and were developing sound sets for it. Does all that development go down the drain? Pity if it does. Alchemy and Camel Space are the two products I own and they are damn good.

I just made a polite post over in the Camel Audio section, asking what happened and what will happen if we wish to reinstall on a new PC/Mac at some future stage..will the software be activated or be redundant after the July date. Within minutes that post seems to have been deleted. I've looked and my post isn't showing anywhere..I even used the "Display Post" feature at the bottom of the page to search for it based on the time of post and it's not there.

It seems certain questions are not allowed to be asked..or, at the very least, aren't going to be answered.

Shame..I honeslty thought they had more integrity than that!

Just checked Linkedin and none of the Camel crew have altered their statuses to say they are working for Apple.

Any Macrumors follower will know this is usually the way people reveal their company has been taken over by Apple - presumably it's a way for them to by-pass any NDA or other gagging order.

I believe Apple PR also has a standard response which is code for "yes, we bought that company" when asked.

f**k guys. We have no info except a bit of text informing people when the site will stop serving downloads. All, literally, ALL of this speculation is unfounded. What everybody wants is info, that's exactly what we don't have. So we should stop crazy, ridiculous, absolutely absurd speculations and just wait. Nonetheless, i don't they'd be disallowed to post a simple "We can't tell anything right now". I mean the way it is now, they could, god forbid, all died in a plane crash. And ZenPunkHippy didn't post here since 2 months. He posted frequently in political topics here too. Isn't he allowed to speak anymore now? Not my business but IMO, this is pretty weird.

If they all died in a plane crash, for goodness sake, then who would be winding the business up and editing the website and shutting down social media..? Makes no sense... This is deliberate, and quick, and gagged, which is *exactly* how these buyouts work.

Redmatica basically did exactly the same thing when they were bought. Except without the 6 months of support/downloads - we got a quick license update so the software would work with a new serial number, rather than activation, and 2 weeks to download the new version or your software couldn't be activated and used anymore. And then silence, and a dead website.

if they came here and posted, then all they would get is 400 people asking them for more info, and the rest wishing them well - which doesn't really achieve much. And besides, it wouldn't be their call to make...

Since we're playing the speculation game I'll play along. I'm sure this must have been speculated at least a few times already but if there is a buy out IK Multimedia might be a likely suspect. They certainly have the resources and the fit might be good given the iOS apps and the fact that IK doesn't have a synth like Alchemy. I'd have mixed emotions if that did happen but it might benefit all concerned.....even the end user. Or it could be a complete circle f*ck.....who knows....that's my love/hate relationship with IK.
