I have been thinking about it as a result of you saying something and I think I want to try to add vibrato lfos constantly changing in magnitude everywhere now.

I tried to go to the KVR link to download FB-7999, and all I got was a Google safe browsing website, saying the site was safe, but with no way to actually get to the site. I tried visiting the site on Firefox and Palemoon, but got the same page. I tried on my phone, still the same results. I can just go to the Full Bucket website and download the synth, but just wondering if something is wrong on KVRs end. I also visited a link to the rules page of last months challenge, and also got the same Google safe browsing page.

It does that for me too. I think if you just copy the link and paste it into a browser it will go through if I remember.

I tried that on my computer but I just got a Google search of the kvr site. I then typed in https, and the site didn't exist. I will try again tomorrow. My computer is off and I dont know how to cut and paste on my phone.

I'd like to add that Frogs in Pants once did a tune that sounded pretty close to Ennio Morricone, and I really liked it. If I remember correctly it was pushed to the back like in an orchestra. And maybe what I liked about that is the lack of fine detail in the instruments. I dont know. I'd have to listen again.
I brought this up because sometimes I do like realistic sounding compositions. And I want to be free to express my like even if it contradicts what I've said in the past.
Anyways, I am excited to consciously work with the idea of trying to make patches at the border of other instruments. I think this is something I can do, moreso than be precise.

I don't know what is happening there, it does the same for me too.Aro wrote: Sat Mar 05, 2022 2:16 am I tried to go to the KVR link to download FB-7999, and all I got was a Google safe browsing website, saying the site was safe, but with no way to actually get to the site. The link from the OSC website seems to work okay though.

Ah...seems we have a bit of a misunderstanding. I fully agree with that point of view, and it with me. I never aim for real instrument emulations myself, but do tend to end up with patches that live on the border of those, as you put it. Here's an example of me not aiming for piano and strings:Aro wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:48 pm I prefer things on the border of being a violin, more than sounding close to the center of being a violin. Just my opinion. Go for it!
https://soundcloud.com/elex101/elex-ada ... -di-dolore It'd be rather disappointing ( to me, anyway ) if anyone would misunderstand those as failed emulations, while in fact they are not even attempts at emulation.
The very fact that they're abstract implies to me that they are not "meant" for anything in particular. But of course they cannot recreate the experience of real life. Any attempt at at that would be rater silly imo. But they can hint at it in a meaningful way, much like a cartoon may do. ( my music has actually been accusedAro wrote: Wed Mar 02, 2022 3:49 am Synthesizers are abstract. I don't think they're meant to be used to create the experience of real life.
...I've been thinking about this for a while and is one of the reasons why I might not give someone a 4 or a 5, even though their skill level justifies it.
Hence my replies to you. For the record: I do not mind purely synthetic sounding music at all. I own plenty of it, and award plenty of points for it in OSCs without any hesitation. Let's all just make music as we see fit, and try to listen with empathy to others, I'd say. Good luck with any musical explorations you undertake !
Also:
NEVER think about ones and zeros, they're evil. Not to mention magnetic particles.Aro wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 11:33 pm When I start thinking about how most recorded music is just ones and zeros, and not actual violins, then everything falls flat.

Please can you check and verify...
FB7999 is losing/switching poly/unisono mode settings when closing a sessions.
I have a number of patches which I have set to "Poly-1" mode.
Closing the project, loading it again...
After loading the project, the mode has been switched to "Unisono-1".
Patches which go with Poly-2 seem not affected. Those patches stay the same.
The behaviour is persisten, because I have had the same issue with several reloads in Cubase 12 yesterday.

I think I also have issues. Velocity sensitivity seems to have changed after restarting the project in Cubase 11. Haven't had time to thoroughly test this. This afternoon I did a new export to WAV and it sounded different. I liked what I heard but it's not literally what I did. I'll keep you posted on this as soon as if I have tested it. New version is now on SoundCloud. Have a great weekend you all!

I remixed my track again and uploaded the latest version to SoundCloud. Couldn't find out why things changed but I reloaded most of the patches as I stored them as presets. After that it almost sounded like I had intended it a couple of days ago. I suspect that if you would save all presets of your FB7999 instances and reload them after starting up the project again, you should be fine. My presets can be downloaded from here (on this page you can still hear the former faulted mix I did this afternoon): https://www.kvraudio.com/product/fb-799 ... /downloads
