BTW, I was never very into prog rock back in the day, but I seriously think taking a hard listen to some of your stuff has opened my ears up a bit...now I can't get enough of some of the current prog metal guitar guys like Plini, Abasi and all that stuff...so thank you! I continue to be amazed by your output and musicianship!

Thanks. Pianoteq keeps getting better and better - they made big improvements to version 7 and I had to go back and render some of my older piano tracks because the new version sounded so much better.

I appreciate the kind words. Working on music is (relatively) inexpensive therapy. Prog is a difficult genre to pin down but in theory it should involve trying new things. Plini and Abasi are incredible players. One non-prog band that I recommend checking out is a trio called Dirty Loops. They combine dance/pop music with incredible musicianship, playing and writing - an unusual combination.

Asheville is ground zero for the Linnstrument for me! That is where I saw Linnstrument for the first time at Roger's Moogfest demo and we spent a fun afternoon recording Linnstrument duets a few years back. It is also just a great place with nice people, beautiful mountains and views, great food, and the Moog factory as well!

Yeah I totally agree about v7 pianoteq. I had sold my license because I just wasn't happy with the sound, but V7 forced me to buy the cheap version. Now that's all I use for piano and it's really fantastic. I will check out Dirty Loops. Maybe I should try to get folks down to Asheville for a Linnstrument gathering when this mess ends. BTW, I got the damn thing (and I was wearing a mask in my office when I did!!!) and wound up in the hospital, but I'm totally fine now. Phew, I definitely didn't want to go out that way!

This piece features the SWAM Clarinet and Orange Tree Samples Mandolin played on Linnstrument as the melody instruments. I used Chromaphone 3 for the percussion, Zendrum (Toontrack Decades) for the drums, and a Dragonfly DF-6 tapping fretless bass.

Really nice Jeremy! Does it go from 7 to 6 at the very end there, or did I imagine that? Love the feel of this one and again, amazed at how organic it all sounds.

Thank you! The ending is 7 against 6. The bass and drums are in 6 and the clarinet and mandolin are playing in 7. I recorded the bass and drums first and the melody lines just ended up being in 7.

Jeremy: A couple things. First, I misunderstood you about pianoteq before, thinking your were talking about V6. Last night I downloaded V7 which is what led to me recording that jam...just fooling around with it. Man is it good now. Definitely don't need piano samples anymore. I wish Modartt, or audio modeling, would do a modeling synth someday. Secondly, it's funny about your piece...no wonder my feeble powers of analysis couldn't figure it out! When I first listened I just assumed it was in six, then had thought "wait, no, it's in seven" then at the end thought "oh, it went back to six or is going back and forth". Never once occurred to me that they were happening at the same time! I agree with Roger, you are and endless font of interesting musical ideas. And thirdly, thanks for listening. Diva is awesome. I've had it for a while, but at half price it is a steal.
