Has anyone tried out the Cherry Audio Dreamsynth to learn how good the MPE implementation is?

I watched the intro, its probably good, but came to the same conclusion…
I need to focus on what I have already… I didn’t load the demo yet, maybe I should… I do like the Cherry synth collection I have a lot though…

I only tried it briefly so far but it seems to work, and even allows separate curves per destination.
The documentation also has a proper MPE section:
https://docs.cherryaudio.com/cherry-aud ... msynth/mpe
Oh and it also comes with a bunch of MPE presets in their own MPE category, which is something I cant say about every MPE-capable synth.

I know others have already mentioned the Iridium here, but wanted to chime in after finally connecting my Linnstrument to the Iridium I purchased about a month ago and then setting up some MPE presets for it. Works very well. The only Linnstrument control parameter that doesn't currently seem to be implemented in the latest Iridium software is note off. Very easy modulation tweaking, with a ton of destinations. The combination is the nearly perfect drone setup, which is my favorite thing to do with both, for now.

Do you mean "release velocity" or literally "note off"?
Cheers!

Hi Michael,
Can you tell me how well it works not for drone sounds but rather for MPE sounds, which require polyphonic and independent X, Y and Z axis pitched playing?

I have been playing around with it for a bit today.
The MPE implementation is pretty good, x/y/z can be mapped to multiple parameters, with separate depths and separate curves for each. It all works very well.
A slight annoyance is the MPE PB range seems to be stored with the patch rather than being global. Not sure who thought that was a good idea!
Also release velocity is not supported.
Overall though 9/10.
Also I emailed support on Saturday and got a reply in less than an hour, very impressive.

Thanks, Bob. I'll add it to the MPE listing on my site.

I just checked out Dreamsynth as well and yep, has a quite sophisticated MPE implementation. A couple of notes..
1. Z-axis isn't immediately obvious, you can't assign to master volume, instead assign to individual OSC params.
2. They have a *ton* of MPE presets

Select Dreamsynth Presets and MPE category.

As an aside, I'm wishing there was a way to disable ADSR all together on these synths and simply use Z control. You can turn Attack and Decay to 0 to get basically that behaviour but it is a bit tedious.

Arturia has released Augmented Strings Intro for free (for a limited time). If you go to the settings tab you can activate MPE. I don’t see any MPE presets but it looks promising! And it is free until April 30th.

I've added Arturia Augmented Strings Intro to my Recommended Sounds page's MPE listing.

Arturia Augmented strings MPE implementation is very buggy with note release and "glides/slides" not playing the right notes.
I'm sure they will fix it eventually.
Pigment's MPE implementation is just fine.

It works for me just fine…
