I don't think it's much about criticism, rather about the reality of having to develope for another, very diverse platform, and having to test and nail out platform specific bugs. Which is probably already a lot of work on Windows and Mac OS, for very little benefit (massively small market share, especially in pro audio software).
Teksonik is absolutely spot on with his post.

Here's just a couple of threads:

https://forum.vital.audio/t/can-someone ... works/4770
I've seen many more. Reporting issues in the Linux version that do not occur in the Win or Mac versions.

Surely there are linux related issues as well as windows and os x a.s.o... But the thing is for me I still prefer a developer who takes the step and also provides a linux vst. It's not a biggie. many other devs do that, like mr U, and I respect that a lot.

Yes but Urs has more manpower and resources at his disposal. I don't know if Linux support make financial sense for small developers at this point.
I wonder how many Linux users actually paid for Vital and how many are just using the Free version.
Having spent time on several Distro forums I can say the attitude that all software should be free seems to be pervasive.
Don't get me wrong since I have dual booted several systems with Linux and Windows 10, I can say that Linux is always much faster than Windows and for musicians who are trying to squeeze every drop of power out of our systems Linux is a superior OS for that but I don't think we're there yet. A long way off as I said. But it's good to see developers like U-He and Bitwig making native Linux versions so there is progress.

Google says.... for "Desktop Operating System Market Share Worldwide" it's 1.9% so even if musicians are at a slightly higher rate I don't think it makes sense for small developers to support Linux....yet.zvenx wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 11:12 pm I am curious what percentage of users does linux represent for music..
