It's working for me. We had some cloudflare adventures, and a biiiig hug of love, but it's back.

Cool update! Free for life updates is a very appealing business model!
I rejoice with everybody who got the version 2 update for free!
GUI looks great. New features are interesting.
I don't remember demoing Serum. Now I did.
I had very high expectations which were not met.
It has really good sounds, while only few of the several dozens that I skipped through were outstanding to me.
I was ready to get it if it would blow me away which didn't happen.
And this is because I already own a few great sounding synths.
Serum 2 has top notch sound quality.
But so does Hive 2 while using less CPU.
I was a bit anxious that Serum 2 would blow Hive 2 outta the water soundwise.
And I am glad that it doesn't do that.
If I wanted the Serum 2 features that Hive doesn't have (and those feature are cool!) I would want it.
It seems like a "lonely island" synth.
But I do my multies with tons of FX in Patchwork.
So I don't see the need for this.
So yeah, enjoy the new synth!
Congrats to the new version! It should sell like sliced bread or better. Cheers!

Kinda. It's actually just DMGAudio license file style with a bit of web finesse. I've been planning to make it so you can download your dmgaudio licenses from the plugins too, because getting license files to work on macOS has become deeply painful.Liero wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 11:24 am The copy protection seems to have changed from simple serial to Challenge/Response, with limited amount of activations?
It +does+ ask you for a machineID which is a hash of some stuff, and is in no way user identifiable or reversible. I don't think there's much of a limitation on number of activations. And if you did "run out" of activations, you can just delete 'em off the site without even contacting us.

Hey Dave, now that it's out, what was the stuff you were working on? Note: I never used the original Serum so forgive me if I don't know what's new, but for example: is the Distortion module pretty much DMG code? Did you work on some filters?
Also, what's going in the world of DMG Audio? I'd still really love to get a Track Saturator plugin or some additional modes to TrackComp. I'm always a big fan of your work. Thanks!

Thanks for the information! This should most definitely be included in the info bit in the FAQ, and currently it's not.DaveGamble wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 11:40 amKinda. My default expectation, which maybe isn't unfounded in today's landscape, is that companies do _NOT_ let you delete machine authorizations yourself and this is kind of a dealbreaker issue for me (truly hate C/R for all the trouble it has created for me as a person who upgrades and tinkers with my PC parts quite a lot, and thus messes with the hash).

I'm not exactly sure how to answer in terms that would make sense. Err. There's a lot of code in S2, right? That. There's four of us on the code, and we all kinda overlap. It's been intense.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 11:45 am Hey Dave, now that it's out, what was the stuff you were working on? Bits that are +just+ me make up a small portion of it all. We're all over the code all of us. Team effort.
But maybe the question you're aiming at is, like, what DSP stuff am I excited to have squeezed into S2?
So, there, man long list. Erm. Sample-accurate modulation and revamping the mod mechanism is a big thing. Any osc as a source for any mod slot. Also dual warp is intense. New warp modes - the new FM stuff, PD etc. The spectral osc. Granular osc I started and Oli polished to a mirror finish, and I think it's wonderful now. Sample stuff, the slicing, the crazy relative looping. On the WT, reworking everything so you can do smooth interpolation and simultaneous warps was wild. The warp filters and distortions was cool. I had a pair of B2912Bs on my desk for a while (if I am ever rich I will buy some) for measuring old OTA chips and stuff, which led to the new analogue filter models. Oh, we redid all the routing and signal flow stuff, and level behaviours. That was mostly Nixx, but it is something I love. Steve and I did the new convolution verb, which I am very proud of. It's a fully modulatable convolution, which was an extraordinary challenge, and involved a lot of papers. The new ladder filters are a lot of fun too. Lots of maths in there. The Bode was a nice historical adventure. Steve and I went a bit nuts on reverbs. New distortions were fun. Erm. I guess now we know the answer to "what happens if Dave gets locked in a room for four years writing code".
Yeah, once I am alive again I'm gonna figure that outAlso, what's going in the world of DMG Audio? I'd still really love to get a Track Saturator plugin or some additional modes to TrackComp. I'm always a big fan of your work. Thanks!
