I've just uploaded a new version that exports all 16 waves instead of just 12 as it used to.

Thanks from another "Albie Backenegger"... I will check and post the offending waves shortlysuthnear wrote:I'm going away for a few days but if you'd like to pick a few waves that you find egregious and post their numbers here, I'll have a careful look at the original data when I return and see if something is going wrong.

All fine - at least I found itjupiter8 wrote:Thank you. I have'nt made a big fuss over it as i don't like spamming the forum. Though i try and pimp it from time to time when i think it's appropriate. It's a delicate balance.
Got one question though: Is there any recommended wavelength? Any waves working better than other ones? I'm just trying to convert some guitar sounds and I'm not sure how long my samples should be...

It's made for single cycle samples as that is all Zebra2 can take. You can load wavs (or aiffs for that matter) of any length, just don't expect them to bear any resemblance with the original though.Sascha Franck wrote:All fine - at least I found itjupiter8 wrote:Thank you. What it does is resample any wave into 128 samples length and then i do a FFT/iFFT of the wave.
So guitar sounds probably won't make much sense though you could cut 16 different single cycles and maybe get something resembling a guitar. I have some vague plans for a program that'll do that much easier but if/when it ever surfaces is anyones guess.

So, 128 samples would be the best idea then?

Yes however i don't think it's that big a deal because of the FFT/iFFT routine. Shorter waveforms don't contain so many harmonics and longer ones could have some extra harmonics because i lazied out and used linear interpolation. But noone so far has complained.Sascha Franck wrote:So, 128 samples would be the best idea then?

128 samples @ 44100 kHz works out to a single cycle of approximately 344.53 Hz, which is close enough to F4:

Yeah, got some frequency charts already.suthnear wrote:128 samples @ 44100 kHz works out to a single cycle of approximately 344.53 Hz, which is close enough to F4:

However, might not be that important - I'm not trying to actually sample a guitar but sort of capture some of the overtone spectrum. Will see how it turns out.

would this be at all useful?

Or Augur (VS tables only, but very clean)?

Close but no cigar.Howard wrote:http://synth.stromeko.net/Downloads.html#KomplexerWaves
??
Which of course could be converted to Zebra2 waves however as we don't know the datastructure this could be anything from simple to borderline impossible. One of the more exciting advances is that the KOMPLEXER can load new data into the two wavetable oscillators. The implementation of these oscillators is based on resynthesis, so the tables contain not the waves (like it is the case with the microWave), but rather the spectral amplitudes.

I had those before and tried my damndest to open them as raw files in Audacity to no avail. It was only now i saw that they're not waves, merely spectral data.Howard wrote:Aw shucks... (unwraps recently received Cohiba)jupiter8 wrote:Close but no cigar.

oops - i sent a ping the the matrixsynth blog about this wave activity. i didn't expect it to become an actual post, so i hope that is ok with suthnear and urs... sorry! (or not sorry, depending on the outcome...)

Is there any chance of getting the Prophet VS waves made available as a collection of full oscillator presets too? The format in which they were first posted (as with the Microwave wavetables) wouldn't load in for me...I was only able to start using them once Urs posted the Microwave tables as full osc presets. Would be great to have access to the VS waves as well.

These wavetables are extremely inspiring! Combined with the depth of modulation in Zebra, I've created evolving soundscapes that never repeat and never sound boring. I created a track using only Zebra (3 different patches), a patch I made on my V-Synth and a self oscillating filter for the rhythm track. check it out

It's kind of a noise/sound scape thing but my point is these wavetable presets are incredibly inspiring.
thanks to everyone involved.
