Finally!
They should have offered the ability to buy instead of leasing those plugins from day one...well, better late than never!
I hope they will release some supernatural acoustic vsts in the future (from the integra7), anyway good choice Roland!

I definitely agree that it feels like their version of the UVI Workstation but with the classic Roland sounds. And Zenelogy Pro promises deeper sound-editing capabilities.
As time passes, my hopes to see a JD-800 (and much less, a V-Synth) are fading.Shiek927 wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 3:56 pm I'm in the same boat and don't want the "essence of the original instrument". I want the original instrument in my computer. When I say I want the JD800 or V-Synth in my computer, I don't mean all the factory presets bundled into basic ROMpler. I mean I want the hardware completely replicated so I can create my own JD sounds, sample my sounds with the V-Synth, explores presets, and not have to deal with the real thing. I still primarily want to see this out of Roland Cloud. But where they seem to be going with Zenelogy? I can't say it's all bad either![]()
What will Zenology Pro bring to us? Let's wait and see.
Heck, the existence of Roland Cloud at least says it'll happen sooner or later (even if it's much alter). I'd love to see a WaldorfQ and Novation Supernova in my computer and it's much more of an 'if' than a 'when' with stuff like that haha.

If you asked me to guess the DAW based on what you said, I'd have guessed Studio One. So Studio One has a very misleading CPU meter, but it's a very good one. Once you understand what it's telling you.
Studio One shows the CPU usage of the most stressed thread. So in an empty project, the System-8 plug-out will show 30%. But that's 30% of one thread. On a six-core machine with hyper-threading, that's 12 threads. If one is at 30%, that means that you could probably run 3 instances per thread (90%), across 12 threads. That means, in theory, your friend could run about 36 instances of the System-8 plugin on his machine with nothing else in the project (assuming no background services, OS doing things, etc., so "ideal use case").
In a DAW like Reaper, that same CPU usage might show up as 2.5% because Reaper will basically say "30% CPU on one thread of a 12 thread machine equals = 2.5% (30 divided by 12) of the total CPU." This is why people think Studio One is crazy inefficient with CPU. Now, it's definitely not the best with CPU usage, but it's not as bad as the CPU makes people think. The reason Studio One does it this way is because if one thread starts to get too high, you'll get glitches. So they show you the CPU usage of the highest thread at a time (note: Reaper can show this too if you know where to look but it's not the one people normally look at).
Note: I'm sure it's a little more involved than all that, but as a layman, that's probably the easiest way to understand and explain it.

I did an A/B of Zenology and the respective SRX plugins. It seems Zenology encompasses all 10 SRX plugins, and most patches are named the same. Some patches sounded different, and upon investigating, it seems Zenology doesn't have a reverb MFX, so for certain patches (like SRX Keyboards D50Belpd1SRX), the tone is different specifically due to the missing reverb.

They told me about two years ago that something was in the works for plugout owners.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:57 pmI asked yesterday, they said anything's possible but nothing's guaranteed.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:42 pm Still no word on whether roland plugouts are finally transferable to cloud equivalents yet?

What makes it really annoying is that the right thing to do is pretty simple in this case. Own a roland plugout? Here is your license for the perpetual Roland Cloud version. Because it's the same frickin' plugin with fixes/improvements.

I am trying out the free version of Zenology. I loaded up the Fantasia patch and added the Eventide 2016 reverb. Sounds good!
The Syn Vox 1 sounds like the famous Fairlight patch.

Yes, with Roland Cloud and I actually got them to refund a year's subscription when Roland screwed up by automatically renewing my sub just after I'd cancelled it - this won't affect anyone else btw it's because I'd got Roland to change my account email half way through the term of the sub and their systems weren't talking to each other so while the new account was cancelled, the old one was lurking around inactive and charged the new sub year. There's a reason they said they couldn't change your email address on your account!Buckster wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:19 pm I saw Roland Cloud uses Xsolla for payment processing anyone used before ?

Being an mc-101 owner, what would the current zenology do for me? Add a few more patches? It’s not clear to me I can load any of the zenology patches into the 101 (yet).
