Most of the currently available presets didn't do it for me and and a quick Youtube search also showed videos with lame, bread and butter sounds. So I was wondering: what's so special about these lame sounds.

The Prophet 5 was a hit because it was the first synth to meet a major market need - an affordable, polyphonic Minimoog-like synth with presets. At the time, there was no affordable alternative. It became the go to synth for keyboard players everywhere.

That doesn't mean it is going to be appropriate for EDM or replace wavetable synths. But Repro5 is a convincing emulation of an analog classic. Whether it is to your taste, is an entirely different matter.

Even many midi monitors will show a note on message with a velocity value of 0 as a note off.

That is actually as per MIDI specification. Since there is no way to press a key with zero velocity, that is considered a note off.

Just makes me sad that it's so seldomly implemented. Also I'd still rather be shown "note on, channel x, note x, velocity 0" than "note off" when I'm looking at a midi monitor. I've had some bugs that turned out to be caused by this and they were a giant mystery until I realized that note on messages are used as note off messages.

But I digress. I'd just like to see it appear on the mod source list of more synths is all.

Well, Ingonator certainly gave some interesting pointers. I don't make up my mind in 5 minutes.
I don't have experience with a prophet 5. Most of the currently available presets didn't do it for me and and a quick Youtube search also showed videos with lame, bread and butter sounds. So I was wondering: what's so special about these lame sounds.

But a few pointers showed that you can easily get fat sounds out of it and I'm hoping I can also get some interesting pad sounds with a few nice tweaks. Some limitations might also be compensated with adding some insert effects... Stuff like that...

I'll admit I didn't do my homework, but if you don't like my question you know what you can do...

Stefken, I agree, Ingo and Frantz gave good answers to your question.

I'd add that, for me, the thing about the sound of Repro-5 is the pin sharp, gin clear clarity. It's the audio equivalent of an ultra high definition image or a freshly cleaned window.

Hi Urs, U-he team.
I have a weird problem with the beta, both Repro-1 and Repro-5 v6634

On win 7 x64, Live Suite 9.7.5, Live 10 beta and Reaper 5.62.
I only selected the 64 bit vst2 and presets during install.

In Live, if I open either plugin interface, I get a blank white box instead of the gui, if I close and re-open it, it crashes Live.
The plugin works ok if I don't open the interface and I can edit parameters through Live's device panel.

In Reaper, when I instantiate either plugin I instantly get a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error for reaper.exe, which then crashes Reaper when I click "ok" in the dialog box.

Repro-1 v5332 works fine, as do all my other U-he plugins.
