When are they going to update Largo? 😢

It will be interesting to see where Waldorf is heading. They were real innovators with HW wavetable but have been surpassed in SW for years now.

Not just in SW but in analog modular also. But with the M's last update Waldorf caught up a bit, adding Braids/ Ambika capabilities. At the same time some other recent wavetable synths come with innovations and drawbacks simultaneously (e.g. Melbourne Instruments NINA - motorized parameter recall is the best innovation since sliced bread, but then only one out of 3 oscs has wavetables). So, as a HW and SW Waldorf user I feel Waldorf are doing well enough for now and if the M and the MW plugin are anything to go by, I have hopes for more interesting stuff in the future.

Who knows, maybe an Iridium plug in one day ;-)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I passed on this one when it came out, though enjoyed the demo.
For those that bought it, are you still getting a lot of use out of it, or after the honeymoon period have you found yourself reaching more for other synths?

It's still being used here. It just sounds great!

IMO, no SW has surpassed the Quantum.

Nothing to see here. Peace be with you.

What exactly is in quantum that can't be accomplished and even surpassed with software instruments

Every synth engine in Quantum is outdone with a dedicated plugin for that Synthesis type that offers more polyphony and sonic options

Do you find there's something in particular it excels at? During my demo period I liked what the rough texture was doing for pads, and I don't particularly remember achieving good leads or basses. At some point I'd like to trial it again.

It has some very particular bass sounds, very much staples of various 90s acts.

This would be awesome… I think not just because Iridiums and Quantums seem unobtanium but because the engines on those synths are still being upgraded… it would just be cool if Waldorf had a software product that always feels current and supported.

Sure because sounds from the Quantum which is easily outdone with software won't be able to do that

And you are unable to articulate why you think it can

Maybe surpassed in modern features. I kinda feel like there is something unique to the way Waldorf synths wavetables sound. I have a few wavetable synths and a couple I like way more than the Waldorf stuff for general use but there is just something kind of grainy and very digital sounding about a Waldorf that really scratches a very specific itch.
