I'll reopen this thread in a couple of minutes. I'm trying to clean it up a bit, but people keep posting.

Thorn In The Side Of The Lord

Ain't a day go by
Where I do not try
To show my God how much I love him
Ain't a breath I don't take
Ain't a move I don't make
To show my God there's no one above him

I poke at him and prod at him
I never leave him be
I grab onto and just like glue
I let him know just how much he means to me

I will be the thorn in the side of the Lord
Singing out his name I do dare proclaim
I will be the thorn in the side of the Lord
Praying everyday for my soul to save
I will be the thorn in the side of the Lord
Come what may

I will keep at it
And I will not quit
To show my God that he's the one Lord
I will stand my ground
With a joyous sound
Because life without him I just can't afford

I whisper in his ear all day
I constantly profess
I get down on my hands and knees
I let him know that all my sins I do confess

Repeat Chorus 2x
I have no words.

Is that Yamaha Volcaloid singing?
Now that the thread has been cleaned up, yes, that is Yamaha's Vocaloid. More specifically, that is the Cyber Diva expansion.

So far, these English speaking Vocaloids exist.

One idea to get around this for bass tones might be to make use of the drive and distortion modules to enhance the spectrum. From what I have read in the thread so far the distortion seems to be of very good quality.
Or simply use another Osc at lower volume with a higher octave to blend in more heights.

This synth is full of surprises. Here's a bass sound that just 'appeared':

Does anyone else think the "Optimize Polyphony" setting should be retained across instances and sessions ? By default it's Off but I think the setting should be remembered as I usually have it set to On. Perhaps it could be set on a per patch basis. Seems like something an .ini or config file would store.

Same with Osc Oversampling. I think that setting should be remembered per patch as well. Sometimes you want it off sometimes you want it on. :)

I agree. It can make a patch sound quite different. Would be a nice addition to have it being saved per patch.

Indeed. Those two settings effect the sound and playing response so it seems logical to have them saved with each preset.

But does anyone turn off Optimize Polyphony ? I'm wondering if there is a case where having it off would be beneficial. I know there are some patches such as bass and lead where Optimize won't make a difference but I can't think of a reason why having it off would benefit the patch at all. Thoughts ?

Am I the only who is not afraid of 32 note or 64 note poly choices ? I know it would come at a cost of CPU cycles but some pads just need a bit more. I find the voice stealing algo a bit...."harsh" I guess for the lack of a better term even with Optimize selected. Sometimes when playing complex patches I've had the engine either stop responding to the next note on or there is an odd drop in volume.

Damn, yeah, i thought it already WAS per patch... didn't even check that :scared:

Need to raise some cash to afford it so good that the intro offer runs as long as December 31st

I never understood why one has to set polyphony manually with many synths. Why doesn't the synth simply use as few voices as necessary and add voices whenever there is demand? Does it take so long to activate an additional voice?

Hopefully that link works, I've never tried sharing a folder of folders before! Obviously let me know if it doesn't work. I haven't levelled the
volume of them, but they will be on the quiet side, rather than bursting your ear drum levels side of things.

I will be adding more as the days/weeks move on.

Cheers
Well done!! Some nice sound designing going on here.

You'll have to ask the developer why they made that choice. Perhaps there is a technical reason beyond CPU demand for limiting Polyphony.
