Well, my old link expired so I re-entered my email and got a new link. This time I got in on the first try and I'm currently downloading it at about 230KB/sec.
So, if you're having trouble, maybe requesting a new download link to an alternative email address would work. Not sure if I got a link to another mirror or if it was just coincidence, though.

yup, i am aware of this. thankfully i already have enough software to make me happy, so i am not trying to convince them (or anyone) how important a software only solution could be (even though i am pretty sure that even more people would be interested in it if it was this way, and NI wouldnt have to loose anything, since as you already mentioned in another thread some time ago, Kore does not require the controller to work even right now)You'll be doing without, then. From what I know (and I would know if it weren't the case), there's absolutely no plans to release a software only version in the forseeable future.

Man, maybe it's just me but seemed to be a real PITA to get authorized. HOWEVER, wow - this is slick, the sounds are superb - some of the best I've heard in a long while! Like "Space Transmission" what a gas! I suppose the sounds may not appeal to all but to me they seem highly refined.
I'm assuming that this is 1/2 of the equasion... that a piece of hardware exists that makes this even cooler!
I think I'm hooked! I'm definitely going to check into this.

The download appears to be working now.
The free version doesn't come with alot of sounds, but those it does come with are top notch. Some nice variety of acoustic, abstract, ethnic and electronic/synth sounds. A very nice acoustic drum set is included, which I think I'll be finding very useful in the future. The pad sounds were another highlight.
I haven't tried assigning the controllers to my Remote SL but I assume that should work, so it can be used like the Kore hardware controller. Realtime control is just enough to change the character of the sound to fit it into a mix, but not enough to completely tranform the sound. This is a "player", not a complete synthesizer. There's usually a dry/wet (fx amount) knob which is good - Some of the sounds are a little "bombastic" to fit directly into a mix.
CPU usage can become a problem. There was one string sound where I had to reduce the Release time a little to stop it from crackling when playing many chords after one another. People with more up-to-date rigs should have no problems.

So I'm a little unclear on the purpose of Kore Player. It did a long, lame scan on startup, seemed to be looking for other NI stuff; does KP just come with a few of its own sounds and is intended as a front-end for buying more sounds? Or does this catalog your existing NI stuff, like Kontakt Library instruments, etc?

It's mostly meant to be a way for people to buy koresound preset packs without owning kore (best of massive, synthetic drums, etc.)

Right: that's what I thought. But it did this weird scan at the start...MitchK1989 wrote:It comes with some free sounds.bduffy wrote:So I'm a little unclear on the purpose of Kore Player. Is there any way to switch patches without the mouse ?, also can't switch snapshots via midi, and can't even do volume control, apart from that i like Kore player a lot, some great sounds.
