The roll-over help can be disabled. Use the menu lower left, and under help there is an option to disable (or simply delay) roll-over help windows.

This is the option for deactivating the pop-up help, which is another thing. I want to be able to deactivate the roll-over help.

Agreed. I've wanted to do this too.

I would LOVE an option in the mouse settings to use the scroll wheel + a modifier key to horizontally scroll the track view. I instinctively go to do this, since you can scroll vertically with the scroll wheel, but there doesn't seem to be a way.

Settings/General/Mouse......you have a few options here including scroll horizontally

Two requests:
1. Is a Windows ARM version feasible? I think Waveform is one of the most compatible DAWs about (Raspberry Pi version even!). Windows on ARM would be fab.
2. I wonder whether further integration of the Airwindows plugins (named Artisan in Waveform) might be worth some thought. There is a lot of chat in the Reaper forums about using the Airwindows Console plugins in particular for analogue-style summing / mixing. However Reaper does not allow post-fader inserts, unlike Waveform! Might there be an opportunity to integrate at least the Airwindows console plugins into Waveform to provide a channel strip type experience? If this can be neatly integrated into the mixer then users could end up with a system similar to Harrison Mixbus but built into Waveform. Likewise by integrating the plugins into Waveform itself it would avoid users having to work out where to place the in/out plugins for it all to work correctly.

long post, summaries in bold. someone please tell me how to collapse long sections

- I think I'd like an improved stock level meter module. I currently open/pop out almost every plugin I use because I have to keep the properties panel space dedicated to the level meter for gain staging purposes and to make sure I'm not being fooled by loudness. I'd rather use that space for plugin parameters or faceplates. I'd prefer to pop out the level meter instead, with it following whatever track that contains the plugin I'm touching. bonus points if it displayed extra info like brainworx bx_meter

granted that's probably more work than it's worth, so I'm thinking an easy fix would be to have the level meter open up a floating, duplicate traditional mixer but it's exactly one track in width (+master) and it follows the track being touched. Current attempts to make this work with the traditional mixer end up slightly too large, with the track usually cut off at the edge (see attachment)

TL;DR double clicking the level meter module creates a single-track mixer that follows the track you're touching

other ideas, probably for v14:
- faceplates at the track and submix level, not just for individual plugins. It could work well with saved fx chains (aka plugin presets). As a part of this workflow I'd like to, from the plugin properties' parameter tab, star or pin a plugin parameter as a 'track favorite' of sorts. Having this list of favorites to reference while making a track level faceplate is better than going through a list of 100 similarly named parameters. Then on the track properties side, I think a 3rd tab where each plugin with favorited parameters has its own exposed parameters list might be useful for quick adjustments across multiple plugins (see attachment). This tab would have a faceplate view option, ideally with the ability to pull from track macro parameters as well.

I don't know exactly how this would work best, but I feel there's something there. It's an extension of tools that already exist in WF, and it could satisfy people's requests for channel strip functionality without compromising the modular concept at the core of the daw

- Taking it a crazy step further would be having these favorites in a track or submix displayed or pinnable to a new section of the browser, where each pinned track has its own collapsible scroll list of favorited exposed parameters. Parameter aliases could be useful here if possible. And maybe add macros to this tier of control for cross-track macros (in the event a rack may not be desired) which also lets you jerry rig parameter linking. And maybe you can add automation lanes under the master track specifically for these cross-track macros. That could make for a fun transition/riser making environment. Again, not sure what this looks like in the end, but theres something there

TL;DR in the track properties panel there's a 3rd tab to view lists of favorite parameters across multiple plugins (grouped by plugin) with an option for a track faceplate, and maaaybe in the browser there is a new tab to view lists of favorite parameters across multiple tracks (grouped by tracks)

Reading your post just made a lightbulb go off as far as metering, as I have the same issue.

How about the horizontal level meter (that currently lives in the properties panel of a selected track) is made available in the top section alongside the arranger/marker/tempo etc tracks. This level meter (or meters) would be available under the eye icon (eg 'show meters') and would display the same full size meter as in the properties panel for the selected track (or tracks), with an action made available at track level such as 'add/remove meter'.

yeah something like that--whatever keeps it visible and labeled/unambiguous

The Clip Launcher in WF13 is excellent, best in class.

It would be great if the Step Clip (introduced in WF11) was also updated to meet industry standards.

My Feature Request/Wish List for the Step Clip is as follows:
  • Step Repeat (to supplement existing velocity and probability values)
  • Step Shift (+/- 100%, to supplement existing velocity and probability values)
  • Global Step Accent value (specified in %)
  • Lane Directions (Forward, Backward, Alternate)
  • Unique Lane Length and Resolution
  • Custom Lane/Step Colors (in the dedicated Step Clip Editor window)
  • Lane Mute/Solo
  • Lane Swing Amount
  • Global Pattern Retrig (each lane will restart playback after specified number of steps regardless of its current Length/Resolution/Direction values)
  • Shift L/R, Random step operations
  • Copy/Move/Replace/Duplicate/Mirror steps across lanes
In general, the WaveForm Step Clip feature set should be on par with implementation found in other popular DAWs.

I think such an update to Step Clip would elevate WaveForm to the next level as a modern music production platform by today's standards.

Hello Tracktion team !

I have many many edits under the projects tab and efficient searching is becoming increasingly challenging.

Is there a way to :
- filter the search so partial words already display results ? (instead of typing full words)
- add an option to search within project descriptions too ? (useful for complex stuff that can't fit in the project name)
- maybe implement a tag system so songs can be retrieved by instrument, genre, custom tag, etc ?

Great work on this DAW btw !

Hello everyone, I have read the various suggestions to be included in the new version of Tracktion. It would be interesting to know if there is any news regarding the new version of Waveform. Last year, if I remember correctly, around this time a video was published entitled "Tracktion Universe 2024"... Thanks.

Info usually starts to emerge in late January.

Wasn't Trackion Waveform one of the 1st DAWs to have Stem Separation ? I'm just seeing that StudioOne7 and NI.Maschine3 is just now getting it and also the Akai MPC 3 too . I totally don't use it , but I may find a use for it one day . I think Waveform13 is great . I don't know what else they can bolt on to it to make it any better than the other DAWs out there .
