I ended up uninstalling all the Roland software and re-installing from scratch. Authorization works now. Hoping that this new install will function more reliably.

i dunno when i last wrote here in this topic:
- after half a year,
--- still RCM issues, you need to often reinstall it
--- still no new vst instruments like jp8080
--- still no improvements of existing vsts (especially selling rom packs seperately)
and same stuff as always. i think now im 2 or 3 years unsubscribed and there was nearly nothing done to justify around 500 bucks to pay.

So as seems to happen about once a month, I got the message that I am not signed and so the software will run in demo mode. I entered my password and it said my subscription is not active. What the hell, I go and check to make sure it is, was about to email support, but tried again to enter my credentials. This time it worked. I was off by one capital letter on my password. So why do they tell you your subscription is not active when its a wrong password!

I sucked it up and bought a year of Pro to get a lifetime D-50 key.
So, what else is good? I already have a lifetime XV-5080 key and have no idea what to choose for my second instrument.

The JD-800 is a great choice. The JX3P may be another option for you--it doesn't have any other emulations at the moment save for UVI's sampled instrument.

System-8 is a great sounding synth with a broad spectrum of possible sounds.

JX3p does have quite a few sounds very close to the JX8P which I think Roland will never get around to making a proper version of that sounds right. Others I got that sound great besides the D50 are Juno 60 and Juno 106. I got the 808 but frankly I thing other companies do a better version at this point with better advanced controls.braincandy wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 1:31 am The JD-800 is a great choice. This one is rarely mentioned, but I've had a lot of fun playing around with it. If I do another year of P4L under the current sub, I might wind up getting the license, along with the JP-4.Septic Underground wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 5:23 am System-8 is a great sounding synth with a broad spectrum of possible sounds.
