Really doesn't do the same thing at all though. Can't save on the fly, and when you adjust parameters in one layer, it's permanently changed, so when you change to a different ayer and back it isn't reset. Totally different thing.xbitz wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 6:54 pmluckily can throw ideas into the selectors; when duplicating, it preserves the modulation and uses the currently active remote control. It helps to some extent—at least it doesn’t eat up the CPUselectors.gifEchoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 6:45 pm With all the performance features like macros and remote controls and grid stuff etc., I find it hard to understand how they don't have a snapshot system, like Ableton's Performance Pack (or like Maschine has had for ages). I've actually moved back to Ableton mostly for that. But I do miss some things in Bitwig for sure and would love for them to add that.
Let‘s speculate about 6.0

^^^ My version of a snapshot is duplicating the layer whenever I want to try something, so the original stays intact—bam, snapshot. If Your Excellency has such extra requirements, that's not my problem.
The main thing is that it should be doable with any numbers of Diva and not eat up all the CPU.
However, if a device is needed that can morph between states while using only one instance, that's something I miss too.

Yeah anything along these lines would be great.slackhead wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 11:47 amBeing able to quickly have a scene added to arrangement that then loops to the end would be very useful, especially if this was combined with having a ghost copy function (like shared copy in S1)_leras wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:18 am It could be good to have an Add Scene To End of Arrangement option that could help with this.![]()
Even a create arrangement from scenes button, just select the scene and the number of bars you want it looped for.
It's not too hard to do manually, but it could save a bit of time.

Yeap I do this a huge amount too.xbitz wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 7:26 pm ^^^ My version of a snapshot is duplicating the layer whenever I want to try something, so the original stays intact—bam, snapshot.
Whether to try new variations or sounds, or just to try some layering.
Ctrl+D is pretty much the most powerful command.

I'm always a sucker for more grid modules. The grid is why I use bitwig.
For an X.0 release though I expect we're getting piano roll improvements this time around.

Bitwig is already promised to do the arranger and the piano roll improvements in the next update.MitchK1989 wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:05 pm I'm always a sucker for more grid modules. The grid is why I use bitwig.

this is essentially what needs to be integrated

I'm thinking that the reference to both arranger and piano roll updates means that they're working on something that affects both equally. For example things like seamless resizing of tracks and note lanes in the drum view, or linked clips. Would also be nice if the ergonomics of multi-clip editing were simplified.

To me that perhaps more of a sequencer add on than a piano roll update.xbitz wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 6:45 am this is essentially what needs to be integrated

I definitely hope they add some more sequencers.
I'm sure they'll have put a lot of thought into piano roll updates though. That and arranger updates are definitely something to look forwards to.

Since this is more of a wish-list at this point, I'm once again hoping for a sequencer.
Stepwise could have been way cooler, oh well.

Yeah kind of disappointed that they went the mainstream route with stepwise or with the drum modules.
I would have preferred having interesting sound design drum making more creative stuff like metallic tones and such. Or whole ass double layer fm drums.
But i guess for many people this is more attractive than having too many sound designy devices

Hopefully stepwise is just the first sequencer. I suggested they implement a sequence suite some time back. Hopefully they we're paying attention!
I think the simpler drums are great. There's scope for many sounds in the grid, but Bitwig needs simple stuff too. You know, for people who are actually making music and not just whale sounds.

nothing original, just voicing my support...
1) Grid needs encapsulation. Patches get ugly fast without it, and it loses all its elegance.
2) A chord track. This would greatly benefit song makers.
3) Drum Machine needs an upgrade. I don't know what, I just know I never want to touch it. What is it missing? It feels clunky and slow to use for some reason.
4) Grid needs customizable UI interfaces. I imagine a large chunk of bw users don't touch the grid for this reason alone.
