What I'm hearing is that no previous feature has been removed, and this update has new features. If you liked Studio One before it's the same but an upgrade. And the same team as before is working on the new version. And they still support v6 & 7.
I like the new Channel Overview. I also love the new Drum Metronome, which is a great idea I would use all the time. I also like the Atmos Binary 3d tool introduced in v7. Cubase 15 also has Atmos.
As a keyboardist I need tools to help compose. Glad to see a chord assistant added but Cubase has better chord tools, including click to preview a chord which I don't think this update has. You can also add a Tempo and Time Sig track in Cubase.
While Fender no longer makes the Fender Rhodes elect piano (sold back in 60's) it would have been nice to include a 60's classic Fender Rhodes vst instrument, even as a third party built-in offering. To attract keyboardists. To most keyboardists the Fender Rhodes elect piano is the classic they still love.
Cubase15 also has the virtual singer which is very cool.

That's strange...aMUSEd wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 8:19 pmYeah I see that but I have installed everything now and it is not there - only the Alpine, Brit and Porta, which I had bought already. Maybe only for subscribers?jens wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:17 pmYes - scroll down until where it says "more than 45 FX und included" - you can scroll left/right through the listed plugins - all three CTCs are in there:aMUSEd wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:00 pmAre they? I can see the ones I already owned (plus the Softube one) but not the CTC-1 which was always more expensive so I never got that one

I assume, despite many signs pointing to an unsucessfull attempt of implementing a subscription model, that they will insist on it?

Well the update at least is decent.
While I am not a big fan, in terms of branding it certainly makes sense.
I love Studio One, yet it has always sat a bit awkward between the other DAWs. for EDM Bitwig/Ableton are the Standard. For video and big audio recordings it was Pro Tools and Cubase. For Tinkerers/video games it was Reaper due to the extensive scripting.
So Studio One was kinda in between.
I see Fender trying to do something similar that Apple made with Garageband/Logic. So they have the Fender Studio for free. A slimmed down DAW for basic recording. But you can open them in the Fender Studio Pro (Studio One) and continue there. It makes a lot of sense as many guitarist write and release their own music. So they position themselves as the "musician/guitarists" DAW. Truth be told Presonus wasn't really a great brand compared to something like SSL/Focusrite in terms of products (other than Studio One). Given that the new update is decent and the new CEO isn't as daft as the old one (in fact stuff like the Tokyo Flagship store, a lot of cool models came from Fender Asia where he was the head before) - I think it is a positive development.

I bought my copy of V7 at the end of last year and I'm not seeing the update in my account.Digivolt wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:43 pmI've seen some on Reddit with their license plans expired in November getting free update, so there's maybe a slither of hope, but if not it's a double f**k you to the early upgraders for this arbitrary cut off "grace" periodVocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:35 pmNo "free" upgrades that I can see. Unless someone over there is really taking their time
My annual updates "plan" expired on Oct 12, 2025 and all I see in my shiny new MyFender account - is all the stuff that was the old MyPresonis account - ending with S1 v7.2.3

The models remain untouched. Go sub or buy perpetual. Your call.Sinisterbr wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 9:13 pmI assume, despite many signs pointing to an unsucessfull attempt of implementing a subscription model, that they will insist on it?

Maybe Andy Mooney wasn’t as daft as we thought. I did not like what they were doing to Studio One since Fender acquired PreSonus, but now in hindsight we can see they were slowly boiling the frog all along.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Well they did buy the company. Something had to give eventually.jamcat wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 9:25 pm Maybe Andy Mooney wasn’t as daft as we thought. These things take time - lots of time as it turns out.
