I added two new digital albums at Bandcamp, Carbon In The Sky, and The Secret Escape Of Wars. Each has around 5 hours of instrumentals, one much more peaceful than the other.
$$$ Proceeds will go to the gofundme pages of the Jeremy Baldwin and Bethany Gurgone families, who each lost their homes and business tools in the recent Lahaina Maui fires.

For those temporarily busted flat in Baton Rouge, the individual songs are also streaming singles at the links in my sig, if there are some you enjoy.
Cheers

I mostly listen to Internet radio stations now. No advertisements, trackers, analytics or subscriptions, ever. Occasionally I listen to the local files on my smartphone when I am off-grid. I live a DRM-free lifestyle.

I love internet radio, the widget I have on my desktop (Ubuntu Studio) is perfect

I have a dedicated app called Shortwave for Internet radio stations, although I only listen to just one at the moment on my Linux phone.

I uploaded a new digital album at Bandcamp, 'Hailing On All Frequencies'.
About 4-1/2 hours of instrumentals, relating to the current struggles and hardships that so many people are dealing with. Music helps me stay connected to situations that are distant for now, knowing that things can quickly change without warning.
https://franklincheney.bandcamp.com/alb ... requencies
(Like the earlie album, 'The Secret Escape Of Wars',
https://franklincheney.bandcamp.com/alb ... pe-of-wars
...it's not cheery party music. But might be appropriate for those in tough situations,
or involved with helping someone who is. )

Added a new album at Bandcamp. 'Absence Of Light'. I find the music encouraging, despite the dark theme of the content. Seventeen songs running a bit over three hours. I'm reminded of the amazing sounds, instruments, plugins and DAWs at our fingertips. What a great season it is in which to play!

Added a new album at Bandcamp, 19 songs, a bit under 4 hours, loosely dedicated to the theme of
'Energy'. All these songs were produced in linux. No gates were crashed, nor fruit abused, in the process. But I was almost fined for having too much fun

Here we go, a thread filled with technical knowleg, no one who thinks about changing to linux can understand at all.
First thought I had was " I will never understand Linux at all"

20 years ago, before the internet, magazines used to be issued with Linux distributions on them, and me, being stubborn, used to try and make music with them. In those days Linux was difficult, but today, with the advent of Mint linux, its almost as easy as Windows. What keeps me away is the dreaded "Xruns", something I never experience in OSX or Windows. Oh, and trying to set up VSTs. It can be done, but easy it is not.

Eh, you copy them to ~/.vst or ~/.vst3 ?
Occasionally preset/resource files go to odd places, but otherwise

How would putting windows VSTs in a folder convert them to work in Linux? I am not talking about VSTs that have been made for Linux. Some people have hundreds of windows VSTs that will need something like "Yabridge" to convert them. I always get there eventually, but for me its a struggle. On windows or OSX it just requires a double click to install them.

Fair enough. Then again, yabridge can be a bit finicky, but it's no rocket surgery...
[edit]
And then again, you CAN make it happen. Good luck trying to run Mac VSTs on Windows, or the other way around.

Its not rocket science to someone who is used to Linux, but to newbies it can be a headache. I would have thought that someone would have knocked up a simple GUI for Yabridge or LinVst etc by now to make VSTs easy to convert and install for newbies.

I'm fairly sure I've seen some kind of yabridge gui, but I can't find it just now. Will update this post when found.
