I feel like a winner this time as well, getting some votes from people whose musical skills I admire and can only hope to learn from. Couldn't be more happy with my result

Wow, Oddbods crushed the rest of us with that one!! Nearly double the point total of next down the line.

In the main, it also seems that the top slot songs followed the theme rather strictly as well. All choice songs, well composed and recorded. Congratulations to everyone who entered, voted, reviewed, debated, joked and cajoled.

I even managed to sneak above the 50th percentile somehow. Something strange is afoot at the Circle K (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure reference for those not in the know).

Many thanks to everyone who voted for my entry this month and for all your reviews/comments. As usual, it's great to get feedback and be a part of this monthly shindig.

My entries into this contest are often pop songs and unashamedly so. They're also (but not always) guitar based.
However, I don't consciously set out to write this way in order to manufacture a song that I think will have "mass appeal".
Numerous and diverse musical influences have wormed their way into my head over the years and the songs just come out the way they do.
The only criteria I usually judge them by, is whether or not I personally like them.
If it turns out that other people like them too, then that's a bonus…and a bloody good bonus too, as far as I'm concerned. And I don't mind admitting, I'm chuffed to bits when I do well in a contest.

As far as I'm concerned, Pop is just another genre. There's good pop and bad pop, although IMO, what good and bad means in terms of music is surely down to the individual.

An awful lot of people buy James Blunt because they think it's lovely music…who am I to say they've lost their marbles?

As for voting systems….I don't care, as whatever way it's done, you'll still find me entering because the best part about this contest is that it's an incentive/reason to write, record and (most importantly) complete at least one song each month.

And it's not a half-bad place to hang out occasionally.
