Forma-8 is a free formant filter which can morph between Vowels using 4 corners of a XY pad, this allows for you to make a range of human sounding effects on whatever you are applying too, there is also a modulation knob which allows you to mix in the amount used and this can make shaking gated effect as it modulates the internal filters. There are also resonance and mix controls which can allow you to apply the effect less powerfully and have just a bit of the effect if you wish. As well as the vowel selection you have a choice of spoken and sung types and male and female genders so you can have more choice than simpler range sweeping formant filters.

first of all- thank you for this very cool plugin. i tried it and it works like charm in bidule/renoise and sounds very good. there is only one thing- can XY pad made to be controlled via automation? i'm surprized that it does not seems to be possible...

It sounds nice, but the XY pad doesn't get exposed as VST parameters so it can't be automated :/

Hmm i thought i put that in it, i will have a look and release a beta in a bit (soon), btw theres a few commands that may be useful that i didnt mention -

Ctrl+Click on XY centers it again

Right click on XY goes directly to point, may need fixing a bit but works

Ctrl+Click on knob takes it to it's set default position, i will adjust this slightly also

Shift+drag on knob fine tunes it

Wow, nice control refinements.

I will indeed be using this - even though I've been sitting at home making an XY-controlled formant filter effect (in a multifx) because I know yours will sound better! Looks nice, too. Thanks, atomsplitter!

Is this able to produce a talkbox like effect for guitar?

im not really a guitarist but i think thats along the lines of a vocoder formant filters make that vocal sound based on bandpass filters so you don't need to do the whole mod and carrier thing and can just apply it to any stereo signal really, on the default settings the top 2 x axis selections are ee and aw, morphing between them would give the donkey ee-or/aw sound so no doubt of interest if your looking for a cool effect to make the sound unique but theres alot of possible combos to morph between, applied in a big fx chain with delays etc also and no doubt it would sound totally crazy :)
