I realise I may have to wait several weeks before anybody actually visits this part of the forum and reads my question... As we all know that Helix has been a resounding success in the VST world and there must be tens of thousands of owners now...

I remember demoing Helix a while back, but I wasn't much excited by it. If I recall Nico Herz was a key contributer for the preset library. I'd start with his, if you're looking for quality presets.
Haven't tried Sytrus BTW.

I have both (Helix and Sytrus), and I find helix besides its powerful has a very warm sound, and the modulation is a dream specialy for ambient sound. I bought the Elektro Keys soundset from TeamDNR and I love it, I made one song with just sounds from the Elektro Keys, except for the drum part.sonkeysankey wrote:Can any of you tell me the names of the best sounding presets in the demo version? So far nothing has particularly stood out.
Would you say Helix was better than Sytrus? (Similar price).

They have a new soundset for Helix that I didn't have a chance to check yet, here goes their site. http://www.teamdnr.net/products/soundsets

I try the demo every time I notice an update, and I would agree that the sound quality and cpu usage is amazing....
I just cannot work with that GUI, the oscillator section is so important, yet it is jammed into such a small (cluttered) area, but yet the big center slider goes almost the full height of the gui.
I could go on, but my point is: If the GUI is ever updated to be easily tweakable, then I'll purchase.
For now (IMHO) it's just like Sytrus, gui un-useable, so it's a preset player.
