A sonatina in three movements for solo classical guitar. Dedicated to the memory of Alexandre Tansman.

The LilyPond-produced score can be found here :

This piece is playable but requires an advanced technique. Obviously the recording is not a "played" version, and again I apologize for the lousy soundfont rendering.

Thanks for listening ! :)

 It's nice to get the score for the piece as well. It's been so long since I last listened to Segovia playing Tansman's guitar music...

Very Cool Piece of writing and composition

Rendering is of course mechanical (especially in the 2nd movement) but I can almost "hear" it and translate it in real time played by a real guitar. ( How weird is the human brain :D ) Should sound nice.

I you feel like sharing the midifile it would be very appreciated too.

(Edit I found the midifile on the site :)))))))

Tansman's small pieces were great fun to play when I was a student, it's too bad his music has been forgotten by almost everyone except guitarists.

Thanks for listening ! :)

Thank you for listening and commenting, Lotuzia, I'm glad you enjoyed the piece.

I wasn't sure anyone would care for this one much, but it's one of my favorites from my own works. I haven't written any other solo guitar music lately, maybe it's that time again...

very nice work, thank you! i like the harmonies in dreamy adagio.

Thanks for bringing this here. I very much enjoyed listening. I wonder what it would sound like played by a real guitarist.

I think it is always good to hear something really different. Quite apart from the enjoyment of something new, it helps me get my own efforts into a better perspective.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Most definitely. I've been listening (a lot) to Jazzyspoon's mix of ET's Colors In Dutch, it's a compact lesson in remixing. I love rich detailed mixes like that, even though I don't think it's in me to do something similar. Still, its beauties inspire fresh perspectives. :)

This is very nice. I don't mind the rendering at all, though possibly I'm translating the sound in my head like Lotuzia mentioned.

It occurred to me that I'd like to hear this arranged for a small(ish) jazz combo. That seems unlikely, but there you have it.

Anyway, thanks for this.

Nice. I played the Tansman Cavatine in school.

If there's a MIDI, I would find arranging the Prelude of definite interest.

Type 1 MIDI file format. Have at it. :)

Oh cool, because this cover kind of a deal gets me outside my habits.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this one surface again after so long. How things have changed on the intervening years!

Thanks to jan for digging this one up from the archives.

I didn't mind the soundfont. It doesn't "get in the way", as the three pieces make for some very pleasant late-night listening, and the guitar can be taken as a "given".

I missed this first time around. I only discovered the Music Cafe 9 days after your original post. I was a 16-year-old bedroom producer at the time.
If you believe that, I may have a bridge for sale
Good work :)
