I recently bought a new computer running vista sp1 and i installed ASIO4ALL for Ableton, FL, & Audition but i can't seem to get any sound when i select ASIO as my main input output, can anybody help me out here? Totally lost :(

Post

same problem (internal soundcard). i use "ASIO DirectX Full Duplex" or "ASIO Multimedia" for that purpose.

anyway, what's wrong with "DirectSound Primary Sound Driver"???

thanks, the direct sound driver is good but i figure the ASIO is alot smoother. I only figure this just cause my last comp i had i was using ASIO and it ran perfectly.

edit:
ASIO4ALL is cool

...where is that timobrien dude when you need it?

Anyway, there is, of course, always the fine instruction manual to consult, as a first step towards problem resolution.

ok. i downloaded latest 2.9ver driver http://www.asio4all.com/ and it works.

just disable "Conexant HD Audio digital out" in "WDM Device List"...

and...
ASIO4ALL User Manual wrote:● Set the power scheme to "Always On" (XP) or "High Performance" (Vista) in order to turn off Processor P-State switching! Advanced: Modify an existing power scheme so as to not switch CPU speed, because other power settings are not that critical.

● Turn off system sounds! While e.g. the Windows logon sound certainly will not be a problem, sound effects in response to button clicks, notifications etc. will mean that for the time they play, ASIO4ALL may be unable to initialize the audio device.
plus...

close any app that produces sound (eg winamp) except for fl studio.

thanks, but how would i go about accessing the WDM device list and disabling the digital out? cause i haven't a clue :help:

Post

click "advanced option" wrenches-pic button in the lower right corner. that should expand "WDM device list". then click on the button to the left of "Conexant HD Audio digital out" text...

sorry I'm still a bit confused, am i suppose to be in the control panel in the "managing audio devices" for this? cause i don't see what you are talking about (sorry I'm totally new to vista :/)

Post

i will talk you through this:

im assuming you have installed the latest 2.9 version of asio4all driver

1) run FL studio
2) press "F10" (that should bring Settings Window)
3) click on the big-speaker-pic audio settings
4) in the input/output choose ASIO4ALL v2 device
5) in the ASIO properties tab (just below input/ouput) press big-button "show ASIO panel"
6)then read my previous post

Sorry to chip in.
Couldn't help it.
I have a the same conexant high definition smart audio 221
sound card on my compaq labtop
with vista Home Basic edition service pack

I have updated the driver for the sound card
and its now version 4.58.1.0

I also have downloaded and installed AISO4All 2.9
but I have followed the instructions above and cant get any sound out.
What could be the problem.

direct sound seems to be working no surprise.

I have set the pc to high performance.
I have disabled my system sounds.

on my ASIO4All v 2.9
I got
Conexant High Defi... Smart Audi0 221
Conexant HD Audio Aux in (no play sign)
In 2x44.0 ... (no play sign)
Conexant HD Audio headphone (with a play sign)
out 2x 44.0 ....(play sign)
Conexant HD Audio input (play sing as well)
in 2x 44.0 ....(play sign)
Conexant HD Audio output (no play sign but not greyed out either - is green)
out 2x 44.100 ... (no play sign and green)

so when I grey out the last Conexant HD Audio output I get no luck.
what could be the problem..
Can there be a setting in FL studio that I am missing.

What is the version of your sound card driver and What is your windows vista edition...? I wonder if that can cause a problem

Thanks in advance
