hi!
i am working on my solo guitar mini-cd.
there will not be shredding/fusion/virtuoso guitar a-la steve vai but some rock/pop guitar melodies with piano and synth arrangements.
i have almost finished to record all the guitar/basses and when i have time i will slowly finish the arrangements with all the other instruments.
for now, could you comment on how this sounds and how it is played?
http://www.alchemystudio.it/mp3/Bosone- ... stelle.mp3
~3.5 MB, 128 kbps
[meaning- "waiting for the stars"]
in particular, of course, on the guitar and bass sound.
drums are from Steven Slate, played by Jamstix in Sonar 8.5
consider that there are almost no effect on drums and guitar/bass, apart from a minimum eq and comp on bass track. no delay/reverb/chorus/whatever... i just tried to adjust the volumes.
what do you think? what you would do on mix starting from just these tracks?
thank you a lot!
bye!
work in progress on "pop/rock" guitar track

The overall sound is muddish, I would try to make it more clear in the hi end (something like this: http://markusalbert.bandcamp.com/).
Reduce a bit the rimshot volume.
Add more presence to the bass, make it more vibrant.
The lead guitar on some spots (at the beginning for example) is low in volume.
There's too much acoustic guitar on the right channel and almost nothing on the left. The acoustic guitar disturb the lead guitar unless you'll add some effect to it (double it and make it more present in the stereo field using your favourite technique).
That's all, I think
Ciao Matteo, piacere di vederti su KVR
Cheers,
Max
