Spicy Guitar is now a freebie.

The company that makes it went under and they have now made the plugin free.

Sad to see another great company go down. I was glad to have paid for it (when they had a buy what you think it's worth special).

Anyway, get it here : www.Spicyguitar.com

In my opinion this is the best instrument freebie for 2011 (so far). It's my favorite acoustic guitar emulation (physical modelling). I love the Flamenco preset the most.

Spicy Guitar is designed to facilitate playing chords. With up and down strums. Lot's of control over the timbre as well. I love it.

Me too, think I paid about €15 for it. Used it quite a bit for the first few months but not picked it up in a while. It's a useful little plug-in and very playable/easy. IIRC they were initially charging €129 for it and then dropped it to €89. Personally, I think about €49 would have been a fairer price in today's crowded market. Shame. But their loss is everyone else's gain and that's the way it goes sometimes. Good show from Keolab setting it free and keeping the website going.

It's seems hit or miss with physical modeling. I listened to some of the demo's and most should not have been used if that is truly the price they were asking. I might grab it and see how it sounds through some effects- can't complain for free.

I agree it wasn't worth the full asking price but I was happy with the deal I got when it was on sale (don't remember exactly how much I paid but it was less than $40).

Some of the presets are better than others.

Also, using effects does help (I use Bodilizer to add warmth and body to the sound). It's a fun plugin to use..

On the website it say's the .exe is 10mb but Firefox downloader says it is 2.9mb. Windows reports that the file is " the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new program " .
Downloaded and tried to install twice.

I can't get it to install yet, the download forces completion before it's actually done.

I emailed them, assuming my slow internet connection is a big factor.

Hello,

Thank you for your kind comments.

The .exe is actually less than 3Mb.

We are experiencing a huge charge on our server for right now, with a lot of people downloading the software. Please try again later if you don't manage to get it the first time.

The Best,

Doesn't sound truely amazing or innovating, but it seems very playable atleast and seems to have tons of functions to help shape the sound. :)

Thanks for the heads up.

Bought this during the "Pay what you want" sale. Good strumming, my only complaint is the lack of custom tunings. (A drop D at least would have been great) Anyways, good to see a company that keeps its promises. (IIRC They made an official statement to set Spicy Guitar free from c/r if the company went down.) Nice gesture Keolab, and good luck on your future projects!
