I am terribly sorry, there was an issue on macOS with pop-up menu handling, only in the plug-ins.
I have fixed that and will upload a new beta version later today.
Also v4.2.2 will be rebuilt with the fix. I'll let you know when it is done (by editing this post).

Apply Shape works well as far as I can tell. It creates a new phrase by combining the rhythm of an existing phrase with the shape of another dropped phrase. I created a small example:

Yeah I get it works that way but once again you're stuck with Rc generated shapes. I'm talking about when you use custom phrases that have the type of melodies and shapes you like.

If you look at house engine VST that keeps everything within the same chord progression and just basically changes to rhythm, what I'm suggesting is that you keep the same chord progression but every time you apply the custom phrase you get the shape of the custom phrase. But still sticking within the same parameters and using the same notes. Just like the midi learn feature it should give you variations of the voicings

As you can see in the melody editor you can adjust the chords so they either transpose up or down but ideally you want them to move up and down at the same time to generate a different feel with different voicing.

Yes, you are right, this was annoying. In the beta version v4.3b5 this works well on multiple phrases, that is you can not just add but also remove variations, as well as set variation parameters on multiple phrases.

"Remove" and "Remove all" variations from multiple selected phrases does not work. While I can add variations to multiple selected phrases it does not work to remove them all. It always respects only the first selected container which is very anoing.

RC's Chord Rules selection seems kind of broken.

In Major:
Chord Rules Default Set: "Default Major Scale Rules"
To get "Pop Major Scale Rules" I have to select "Pop Minor Scale Rules".
Selecting any other Major Chord Rules Set ends up with "Default Major Scale Rules" or "Select".

In Minor:
Chord Rules Default Set: "Bach Harmonic Minor Scale Rules" OR "Pop Minor Scale Rules" OR "Default Minor Scale Rules".
To get "Pop Minor Scale Rules" I have to select "Pop Major Scale Rules" in Major scale and change the scale back to Minor.
Selecting any other Minor Chord Rule Set ends up with "Default Minor Scale Rules" or "Select".

I realized this on RC 4.2.1. Updated to 4.2.2...same behaviour.
System: MBAir 2021 / Silicon M1 / 16GB / macOS 11.4 /

I just realized that this happens in the "..." Top-Level Menu Options and in the "first tab" of the Master Track's Context-Menu, only. In the "second tab" or "cog wheel" Menu of the Master Track it works...

...but in Quick Suggestions "Default Major Chord Rules" are back – resisting to any changes.

thanks for reporting this bug! You are right, selection does not work too well.
I fixed this bug today. The next maintenance update will be available next Monday with this and other fixes and improvements.
As a workaround, please highlight the 'magnet' which lets you select any rules freely. With the 'magnet' turned off, the rule is adjusted to the scale.

thank you! I just reworked chord rules selection yesterday, and I think this bug is fixed now.
For some reason Address Sanitizer was included in the release build, I don't know how that could happen.
I'll upload v4.2.3 with many fixes on Monday.

Speaking of AS, there have been two major updates to VS 2019.. they prepping for VS 2022 which will be huge improvement on VS.. might want to set aside some time for those, if you haven't updated.. takes a couple hours to perform.
