This one took 9 hours to record in April 2010. The May 2012 remix took 12 hours, most of which was spent tweaking the arrangement. The mixing itself was relatively straightforward. I had problems with Augur, which used to work reliably with XP32. Anytime I tried to open up the gui, EnergyXT would crash. luckily, I was happy with the sounds produced by each of the 3 instances originally recorded 2 years ago. The next track will not be so easy, as I find that it currently has no redeeming qualities. Hopefully I can do something about that.

Fantastic work Tim! Great proggy feel and a somewhat mysterious yet upbeat vibe. Once again the arrangement really stands out for the interesting yet cohesive changes you bring about. :tu:

Btw I think your non-SC link is farked. I get about 5 secs in and she stops.

non SC link works here.
I like this, kind of swirling feel to it. Was going to say the bass could come up, but it seems ok now. Cool slow down, and back to that swirl I really like. Much detail here, beautiful clarity to everything. Well done.

Great choon Tim - very, very catchy, great sounds, bouncy bassline, smart use of effects. Another winner :D

Thanks very much, Matt. Glad you like it :) The original version was essentially the same as this (about 20 seconds longer, in fact) but without that break towards the end.

The actual mixing seems to be getting easier these days. I used to be really scared of using reverb, but have become comfortable with it now. Hopefully after another 20 or 30 mixes, I should be starting to take some risks with it :hihi:

Yeah. The kiwi6 link was a bit stop/start last night, but seemed to have sorted itself out by this morning.

this reminds me of a 'street-wise', sci-fi soundtrack from the '80s. i was thinking, something like 'they live'.

...or maybe 'mullholland drive'.

whatever the case of that, it's smooth but edgy at the same time.

Thanks very much for listening and commenting, fatc. Glad you liked it :)

Yeah, that swirl effect was nice, but was a by product of the combination of sounds, I think. It's really nice when that happens. The original (2010) mix was ok, but didn't have any of that. I think I have 35 or so tracks completed now and 3 or 4 of them have exhibited varying degrees of that type of sonic reinforcement, more by luck than design, I fear.

Thanks very much for the listen and the comments, mrblitz. I'm glad people are using words like edgy and mysterious here, as the main melodies are ostensibly "pretty", but I was trying to achieve a deeper vibe here. I may have succeeded :o

Its nice to be compared with the likes of Carpenter and Badalamenti, but certainly undeserved!

Thanks you very much :D

Excellent work again Tim

One thing that always strikes me about your stuff is the sheer value for money and timing. Just as one phrase finishes something new comes along to keep the interest levels up.

The sequenced sections in here are superb.

Big thumbs up again 8)

Very nice, it's got a heady, hypnotic feel about it. Someone already mentioned the lovely swirls! One thought on that: I would have liked the bottom end to be a bit fatter, something to counterpoint the glistening highs. In all though, the mix is quite transparent, which probably wasn't easy, as there's so much swirling going on. ;)

Great Vibes, it would be brill in one of them videos where a City is speeded up and whizzing by day by day.
Learning mixing, no song's complete yet! Any feedback more than welcome!
