wow good guess ttoz, it really is a $200 plugin for new FF customers.

i see the total bundle price hasn't changed though, which is very cool.

At least i get to test this now and put it directly against my others, for a bit of fun, and to see if indeed they have managed something extraordinary

Not cheap, but very impressed by the quality after trying the demo
I can't remember if I ever heard such a good de-esser.
Just listen how it does its job also on full mixes without affecting anything else.
Another good thing I experienced is that it treats unwanted transients before SSS in a good way if it is necessary (f.i.: dSSS -> s).

BTW, the singer in the demo video needs lessons urgently

Just tried it for 2 minutes on a siblant mix I had laying around and the results were astonishingly good. This is a definite buy.

As usual a cool plugin from FF but doesn't warrant the price. There's already many types of these of plugins available & 100 methods you can de-ess without using a specialty plugin.
Even with my discount I'm not that excited by this release.

This is really top-notch, I can't really hear it mess with the source material whatsoever. Did a quick comparison with some other stuff, and there isn't even a contest

Can't say I'm excited enough to purchase immediately, but if a project demands such processing, I'll definitely pick it up :)

Like I've said earlier I'm not interested by a de-esser since I don't make vocal track but I think this is much more than a typical de-esser, there's some really intelligent algorithm at work here.

Hoping they do some sort of dedicated Chorus/Flanger/Phaser modulation type plugin next.

Guys, I seem to have found a bug. I put a phrase spoken in Parseltongue through this and all I got was a picture of a white flag, anyone know the fix for this?

Post

I had to look up Parseltongue... ;)

Hope not. Too many goodies of this kind are already out there.
Although I thought the same about de-essers

"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Don't know about him, but I spent a few hours last night mixing some vocals and I compared Pro-DS to Eiosis E2 and Sonnox Suppresser ( some guy on KVR sold it to me dirt cheap! ). Pro-DS was the most effective and did the least amount of collateral damage to non-target frequencies (actually, there was virtually no audible effect on other frequencies that I could detect). As always, FabFilter coupled a beautiful and functional GUI with Pro-DS that is laid out perfectly with excellent visual feedback. Sonnox was a close second, though, and I really like its interface and workflow - very easy for quickly IDing the offending frequencies. Eiosis is great, too, but I've always found it too fiddly and not enough visual feedback, which is the reason I bought the Sonnox from ttoz a few months ago.

With my loyalty discount and an additional refer-a-friend discount, Pro-DS was a no-brainer for me, but I'm not about to part with my Suppresser. Anybody wanna buy my Eiosis E2? :D

There are lots of other de-essers that have worked for many years! Try some of them as they might be cheaper/.
