Since V2.05. Rhino can use .SFZ and .wav files, but last I knew the .wav files had to be mono...
That is how I was able to port part of Anomaly over to Rhino...

Vaz Modular has a couple of oscillators that do interesting things to samples.
A granular oscillator, though it misses some of the more advanced parameters of for instance Alchemy it has modulation inputs for FM.
A wavetable oscillator does classic PPG style wavetable synthesis with or without crossfading between the waveforms if you have wav files correctly set up. Also has FM possibilities.
And there's two simpler sample playback oscillators with retrigger inputs and FM.
As it's a modular just add any of the filters and route them through, throw in ringmodulation and frequencyshifting or glitch modules and other stuff as you please. And/or use the oscillators as modulation sources as control signals and audio signals are interchangable in Vaz Modular.
Sonigen Modular has an interesting though initially somewhat confusing wavetable module where you choose 16 snippets of a wav with individual setting for FFT size for each snippet (or waveform, if you will). No special preperation of the wav needed.
KarmaFX Modular has some resynthesis I haven't gotten properly into as I was initially dissapointed, I'll give it another go sometime and see if anything interesting can come out of it eventually.
discoDSP Vertigo is all about additive and resynthesis, getting slightly long in the tooth as others have more modulation and mangling options and also are more convenient to work with and more stable. But it'll hopefully get updated.
WNAdditive from White Noise Audio is fun but can use a lot of CPU and is a bit lacking in the modulation department. You can analyse soundfiles or pictures to use as a scannable oscillator in addition to as a scannable formant filter with 128 "stages" to be sweeped through by an ADSR and/or an LFO. With sounds imported in the formant filters you can for instance get vocoder-like sounds using the right material and modulation. You can also handdraw within the synth to edit the imported files or even create timbres from scratch that way. The two oscillators can become sort of like wavetables with 128 waveforms to sweep through. 128 partials.

[pedantic] SFZ is not a sample format, but a way to group multiple WAV sample files (key zones, velocity layers) into a usable patch. [/pedantic]
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

It was included merely as a way to describe certain players that don't contain much more than simple editing to those samples, (be they multiple or single wav) and are more setup to play the straight sample without multiple synthesis parameters.BertKoor wrote:[pedantic] SFZ is not a sample format, but a way to group multiple WAV sample files (key zones, velocity layers) into a usable patch. Hope that clears it up for you.

Since we've reached the point of repeating products already on the list. It would be nice to see how this list changes by adding the other two considerations in the OP. Granular must be in it's synthesis, not just an added waveform.BBFG# wrote: 1.Import user samples.
2.Granular synthesis. (more forms a plus)
3.Two or more oscillators
*Alchemy *Ambitron *Absynth *Atlantis *Circle *Corona *Crystal *Cube
*Dimension Pro *Discovery Pro *Diversion *ElectraX *Harmless *Harmor *Helix *HGF STS *KarmaFX *Linplug CRX4 *Kinisis *Mach5 *Morphine *MUX *Nitroflex *Toxic Biohazard *Octopus *Padshop Pro *Poseidon *PPG Wave V3 *PsyBox *PsyGen *Rapture *Rayblaster *Reaktor/SkannerXT *Rhino
*Sonic Assault Wave *Sonigen Modular *SonikSynth2 *Straightliner *Surge *Symptohm *SynthMaster *Sytrus *Vaz Modular *Vertigo *WNAdditive *Wusik *Z3ta+2 *Zebra 2/HZ
So what are others with this criteria I might consider?
(Caveat: if you say Omnisphere, you're only telling everyone you have a reading disability).
Which ones of these do granular and have two or more oscillators?

Way to necro!
I don't consider Mangle to be a synth as much as just a mangle.
Granular yes. But does it have other forms of synthesis also?
And remind me, how many oscillators does it have?
(I sold my copy soon after it appeared the developer had dropped off the edge of the earth).
