just add chord progression define the scale select all Melody Generators and
hit to Regenerate All Selected Generators then.... hit to the play
Gminor Piano L&R_(FLAT).zip
Yellukhan, thank you for this. I would love to see more projects to see what people are doing. Help me to get off the ground.

However, as usual, I am mystified by RC, either not understanding what you did to create this, or not understanding RC, or most likely both.

Please allow a few questions and answer what you can.

(1) The right hand piano is some kind of generator, correct; I can't tell what kind, a melody generator, or a custom generator you created?

(2) When I choose the right hand piano and then right click and pick the magic wand, I see where you have defined the rhythm. You manually created that rhythm, correct? It does not change; all the melodies follow that pattern?

(3) To click "regenerate" in the magic wand dialog box is the same as click "regenerate all selected phrases" in the settings (gear) dialog box for the phrase?

(4) The left hand piano sounds like a series of arpeggios, but when I choose that and try to see the generator, it says it is not a generator. So is this just a static pattern that you made? It does not seem to regenerate when I choose the regenerate option.

That's enough for now; everything else is probably just instability of beta and my confusion.

Hi Glenn,
1- Right hand piano is Melody Generator
2- yes rhythm is manual
3- when you select more than one generators that button appears and yes its the same "regenerate"
but this one regenerates & applies .. so it does two action in one click.
4- left hand just a regular phrase not a generator

this is the video that shows the logic behind it...so how did i create the L & R piano project
only differences in this one: left hand part is just a sustain chord...not an arpeggio

i hope it helps.

I watched this video with considerable interest, and had to Chromecast it to a larger screen TV to really get some of the steps. Very interesting. Let me know if I have understood it more or less correctly.

(1) You played in something into your DAW from a keyboard. It looked like you had an analyzer for chords and stuff running, but I am not sure if that did something functional.

(2) You cleaned it up in the DAW and separated two midi files, for right and left hand.

(3) You started a composition in RC, set the key and created tracks in RC and brought (dragged?) those MIDI files in. You did something to get RC to recognize the chords, but later you experimented with some different chord progressions of your own.

(4) You made several tracks with the melody line, labeling one using a Melody Generator and one you labeled an arpeggiator. I think you converted the melody phrase into a generator (that was hard to see), and then you spent the most time tinkering with the Melody Generator, to get the outcome you wanted. (As I asked above, it looked like the rhythm of the initial phrase was never changed, and so all the melodies followed the rhythm of the initial midi phrase. Of particular interest to me, not addressed here, is learning to generate rhythm variations that will work for jazz/r&b and other contemporary styles)

(5) As for the track you labeled arpeggiator, you went back and forth between it and the one labeled melody generator, muting one or the other. I wasn't sure what was going on there; you may have just been experimenting with different parameters.

I am very grateful for the chance to see your project in action! Let me know any obvious blunders I made in my description above.

Hi Glenn,
(1)- No i didn't play/record from keyboard..its a Midi of Erik Satie's Gnossienne1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLFVGwGQcB0
i just select a part from it
..just forget the Chord Analyzer.
i just edited all left hand part to D minor chord that's all.

(2)- yes.

(3)-yes, dragged midi files to RC and defined chords to D minor to easy recognition (left hand chord phrase in this case)

(4)-duplicated the melody (right hand) part to two tracks...
one converted to Melody Generator second converted to Arpeggiator a you noticed and experimented with them.
in this scenario i need the rhythm as it is... so as you said rhythms doesn't change only pitches get randomized.
5- nothing special.. i was trying to show you can use Arpeggiator if you are after the "Chord Notes Only" generation(s) / randomization(s).

here is the project
ESatie.zip
let me know if i miss anything.

Thanks so much for the project. This will be very helpful in my learning. There are so many options in RC I haven't touched yet.

I haven't gone back to this yet, but I will.

I remember years ago seeing a performance of (and liking) Trois Gymnopedies(?), but am not familiar with Gnossienne1.

Best Wishes,
Glenn

Another composition... ;)

This is a piano composition that a friend of mine recorded with me.. (it's not generated, but performed).. I used RC to help with the orchestration. A big help, I might add. I did the guitar parts, the bass, and acoustic.

Here is a piece I wrote in RapidComposer using only the instruments provided in v3.23. There are 5 tracks to this piece. I have really enjoyed working in this program.

Enjoy,

Jeff

one of the latest from our work
it was background music for a documentary
first part (0 to 1:25) is the main structure of all parts .. so its raw output of RC project.
at this part piano plays Ostinato generator .. also Rhythm + Strum + Note lengths Variations in the piano track.
there is two more parts (Melodies) at 3:30 and 4:43
which i used midi files that i created via my Scale Arp workaround in the past..
basically i tried midi files realtime preview over the arrangement in the Reaper ..they fits perfectly!
after just a few tweak & collage ..done! :)

Thank you nexussynth!
this is the simple walk through of the RC project .. i hope you found useful.
--correcting myself : variations are in the Phrase, not in the track.--
