Made this today, it's only halve a song at moment.

Me and another guy make vocal based pop music as "An Electric Heart" but I'm going to make an instrumental electro EP as "Slave 1" with hopes to get on Beatport... is that hard?, started work on it today. (still need a lil' somethin' in the gap before what the kids call "the drop"

)... also, I don't really listen to that much electronic music, what genre would one class this piece as?

I hate to bump this... but seriously, I'd like to know what genre people who listen to dance music would class this as.

The first half was giving me bigbeat vibes, with a hint of goa techno (mostly due to that flatted second). The second half sounds like more straight up techno, with a bit of an electro influence.

Overall, I'd go with the term "techno", possibly with some kind of snazzy modifier

Cheers! As far as full on dance music goes I only really listen to Prodigy, Pendulum/Knife Party and a bit of Skrillix, I know that dance music people love genres

... normally I just call my music 'alternative pop'

Genres are OK after the fact, for catalog/categorization purposes, I think some people go a bit mad with wanting to make a certain genre and that genre only, but that's the beautiful thing - you can do what you like in the world of music
