In name only, or features?
Since Camel Audios "Alchemy 2" was not publically available, then how could we know that the version in Logic is basically a carbon copy of what Alchemy 2 was supposed to be?
Thats not what i asked.

I asked if the mac only version has new features, or if its just rebranded v1.5

Ok thanks. So not much of an update.

Seems pretty good, to me  I do wish they had still given us the option for the dark interface, though

Did you ever see anything skinnable made by Apple? Even the OS customization was taken away in OS X (it was possible in OS 9). However, since there are people creating new slins for Logic, and some plug-in, I think it is possible to do that for Alchemy too (although not with Apple's blessing)

Actually I got back at coding a while ago and made a ton of changes for Wusik 8000 and Wusik Station V8. :hyper:

Also, given their choice to have multiple different gui's for the stock compressor, it doesn't seem so far-fetched that they would allow Alchemy to keep the Dark option, especially considering I'd bet it was preferred by most users

As I said, these are hacking workarounds, and do not have the blessing (or support) of Apple. Nowhere can you see that Apple "allows" this. And each time you update Logic, you have to patch all the files again, AFAIK.

Also, there isn't a single skin that changes ALL the plug-ins also (again, AFAIK). Basically, what they patch is the arrange window and the mixer window, and in a very limited way. The GUI, as a whole, will remain the mess it currently is, with graphics of at least three generations spreaded all over (and the latest ones are lazy and ugly, BTW).

I think it might be a good sign that there are still gui updates waiting. I'm inclined to believe that the one's that are left are in for a bit of redesigning

I really like the main area of Alchemy 2, but I really don't like how the fx/performance section looks

I've not bothered with any of the custom skins, but I have to say that the "Shadow Hills' gui is tempting

There is a lot more in Alchemy 2 (or Logic Alchemy), especially in terms of FX routing, additionell FX, better resynthesis, better GUI and a few things more. Also a lot of free samples and patches i payed a grand for with v.1.55.
But they also removed a few things which annoys the hell out of me, like tuning scales per patch, importing waveforms etc.

However it may have started out as Camel Audios Alchemy 2. Now it's just Alchemy in Logic X.
Yep, Apple probably just want it to be seen as the Alchemy

Makes more sense to me. These products are evolution, and not revolution. Same with Omnisphere, Predator etc. Seems like marketing nonsense
