Granular synthesis: Tutorials 11 and 12 about the VST “CrusherX” are online. They deal with the special AM/RM functionality XCrush and its modulations.

Tutorial 11 here: https://youtu.be/GmL21EjELVk

Tutorial 12 ends in a bit of a delirium: https://youtu.be/VcbzxoDzTgc

P.S.: Sorry for the delay, but I had to write a manual (about 130 pages) and to undergo an ugly operation (two weeks, but fit again).

Thanks again for this tutorial. Very impressive piece at the end of tutorial 12 utilizing XCrush!

As you observed XCrush behaves like a ring-modulator on the playback of grain n and grain n+1. Unlike a normal ring-modulator XCrush bypass a signal when one of its inputs is 0 ...

So XCrush will give impressive results if one modulates the delay or speed parameter while the grains overlapping. With modulated parameters the two inputs (grain n and grain n+1) are more different e.g. due to the different source position or playback speed that ends up in great XCrush sounds. Give it a try!

Very important information. Thank you. I´ll implement it at the beginning of the next tutorial as a kind of post scriptum tum video 12.
Have a good time.

Thanks.
I do not have CrusherX yet, but it seems to be exactly what I need.
Your tutorials are very good.

Thank you for your comment. I am pleased my tutorial could help you a little. The next one - part 15 - deals with the quantization functionallities. There is a lot more about that matter than it looks like at the first glimpse!
By the way: These actual first (about) 20 tutorials (the next one being no. 15) cover the functions of CrusherX more or less each individually and don´t deal with combinations of different functions and functional groups. They are meant as a kind of "video manual". But I am not going to stop there. The series will continue even after having talked about every single function of Crusher X and I´ll talk about more complex examples how to implement CrusherX in the whole process of designing a sound or even composing complex works.
Have great ideas and a good time!

Thanks for all those good things to look forward to.

I have always liked works like Pierre Henry's Le Voyage, Ligeti's Artikulation and Glissandi etc. but it was not untill I purchased the Mode Records double CD CCMIX - Xenakis, Upic, Continuum with works by of course Xenakis but also Robindore, Risset, Pape... that I really wanted to examine how this particular music was being created.
I had a few vst synths, but these were/are more oriented towards other kinds of music. Like creating sonic landscapes or loud music to dance to. As said: nothing wrong with that, but not exactly what I am looking for.
I want to examine, to study, to really grasp, and also be inspired to create my own. Therefore I need a good toolset. And I have neither the financial means nor the brains to buy/memorise the use of some hundred synths. Watching your lectures on CrusherX gives me the impression that this is an anchor point. Like Iris is one. And Phonem. And Falcon.

Your series on how you go along collecting material for that composition is very interesting, and a good idea to share it as is, with all the doubts, uncertainties etc that come with any creative activity.

I just needed to join the chorus of praise for these videos....they have been some of the greatest tutorials for depth into an abstract tool I've yet encountered. Thanks and thanks again for your efforts.

Thank you very much indeed. Sometime I get unsure, if the way I´m working is or isn´t the right one. Such uncertainties happen when a man works alone. Your post has helped me finding an answer to the question once more. Thank you again. Have a great day and a good time. Rolf

I´m working on Tutorial 17 now. It´s going to deal with the new SWEEP functionality - and it´s getting again a (very) "in-depth" tutorial. I discover new aspects and new advantages and useful interactions with other parameters (and consequences) of the SWEEP functionality every day.
I hope to have finished this tutorial 17 by the end of April.
Enjoy your time!
