Saurus 2.5 (free update)

The update to v2.5 is a major update, which is available for free for all Saurus2 users.
Saurus 2.5 is downward compatible with all previous versions. All existing song projects and patches can be loaded without any further steps necessary. They will benefit from the enhanced sound quality.

New features:

- Drag & Drop modulation: Drag an envelope or lfo and drop it to a knob to modulate it
- Midi learn support: Right-click on a knob to assign or remove a CC
- Right-click on a knob opens a menu where you can assign a massive amount of modulation sources
- Hovering the mouse over a knob shows a box with information
- Modulation depth control on top left of a knob if a source is assigned
- Sectors on knobs show the modulation amount
- A red sector is shown when clipping of modulation occurs
- File->'Show version info' shows the version number of Saurus
- Right-click on a knob and 'reset' resets a knob to the default value
- File->'reset midi learn' removes all CC assignments
- File->'Clean matrix' cleans up the mod matrix and resets unused slots
- Right-click on a knob and 'remove modulation' removes all assigned mod sources
- Tooltips are shown when the mouse is hovered over a button

Enhancements:

- More beautiful background skin
- Enhanced sound of the Reverb: Less detuned sound and more beautiful early reflections
- Enhanced sound of the PingPong delay: Added a lowCut filter
- Enhanced sound of the Delay: No more detuning and a more wide sound
- Enhanced sound of microtuning
- Better sound quality: New high-end resampling algorithm
- More bass and warmer sound
- More linear frequency response in 'linear mode'
- Faster Volume Envelope for more punch
- Saurus v2.5 'fits better to the mix'
- New knobs with enhanced performance
- Parameters are more easy to adjust
- Patch rankings are now stored as .rnk files within Saurus_sounds
- Fat Unison is more easy to setup
- More 'bottom' if a new patch is initialized
- Texts are more easy to read
- Activation dialogue is now also available in German language
- Faster loading of 32bit PC version
- More robustness
- Faster patch loading
- Lower CPU on Mac

Fixes:

- Better compatibility with Fruity Loops
- Matrix source 'random' did not work in legato mode
- It is not longer possible to click on the VU diodes
- Fixed a very unlikely but possible crash

Changed it from 2 to 2.5 ?
Well, this is what the changelog says:

And in practice does it change the sound ?
Stop looking back, you aren't going that way

Doc Brown wrote:^^^^Yeah I looked at it the same way. The upgrade price was paying for an incremental update. I have other synths like Diva to compare update schemes with and Tone 2 just looked like greedy money grubbers with that price. It was a total turn off for me and I probably won't buy anything else from them. Not because they are so horrible but because the amount of great devs and awesome sounding synths at my disposal I can weed out the less than desirable venders.

It's a very competitive market and the quality of the synths and developers seems to be getting better as well. The market will decide who lives and who dies but some companies make it so easy to want to support them in the future (U-he)(Synapse Audio) (toneboosters) (TAL)... the list goes on. The companies like Tone2 are not bad by any means and they put out good products but they are competing against great products and devs that treat their customers like gold.
Tone2 do treat their customers like gold. They keep their products updated, they support the users, they have support forums where they are very active and they are constantly bringing out new products. Markus is a very very talented dev. DIVA is a great synth too, Saurus and DIVA are compared a lot, which is great, they both have their positives and negatives, you can go down either road, it's a choice.

I dont see these V2 releases as point releases, especially not E2 , because that was really a big update worthy of a V2 title. The hypersaw stuff alone was really impressive.

If you don't like a certain dev , so be it, but one thing KVR does better than ANYWHERE is allow a massive amount of fandom, which is what I am doing to a certain extent, it's never objective. Which makes it a pretty shit forum for newbies. So i'd suggest to them, DEMO everything, make your own comparisons based on names given.
Stop looking back, you aren't going that way

Ignore chk71 and fluffy. They are just trying to troll like in any other tone2 thread.
I did some comparisons:

- The reverb sounds less sandy and the late refelections are not longer so detuned
- The delay has more depth
- The oscs sound more full
- The overall sound is a little more detailed

I have loaded an old song project and everything works fine on my side. I appreciate the enhancements.

This version also seems to be very stable. Did not find bugs so far

I have received an email with a private download link.
If you did not receive it you can contact them in the forum or by email. I think it is support(at)tone2.com

Apart from the stuff i just wrote to you per PM, the things you just mentioned do change the sound, so what are you trying to say here? Not that i criticized the change of sound in any way, i just wrote in a sarcastic way that i wonder where the peeps are who constantly complain about the presets not sounding the way they did... you really don't seem to be the brightest, as you don't seem to understand anything. I even put a smiley. What more do you need? A meme?

I'm in the same boat. And, as always, the response time from Tone2 is beyond lackluster. Did you have any success getting a download link?

I think flakes2 might be the one who wrote the copy for Tone2 (the repeatedly wrong comparative (more easy and more full for easier and fuller) for instance is suspicious, just like the way that user contacts people like me per pm, accusing me of trolling, hating Tone2, and what not).

Anyway, if the new version sounds better and the new features make sense, fine with me :)

Fact is that you've been trolling in every single tone2 thread that has appeared during the last year. Everyone can read it.
I should contact the moderators of this forum about your behaviour
